--- wrong thread ---

Nothing is wrong in the Off-Topic forum. Be fruitful and multiply--or do summation sequences, or construct a mandelbrot set.

wrong thread, as in I wrote a whole reply in the the hijack of the trinity thread but somehow got it posted here instead - you can find the whole hijack in the proper improper thread. :p

WTF is up with "Twinkie"s in this thread title anyway?

Considering the wide myriad and vastly baffling things that can go wrong with the human body in general, let alone as birth defects, I'm amazed people can question the possibility of people being born with a miswired brain. Heh. Especially with things like asperger's syndrome and autism around.

Yes! I agree!

I'm crazy... I admit it... I want to make the most of it. :)

Humans have many bodytypes, why not "braintypes" (for lack of a better word).

I tend to agree now with the idea that transgendered people have an actual physical difference in the brain. I can't come up with any other good explanation for my own behavior over the years. In my case I tend to think my brain only made it partway through androgenization. I can't fathom most of male or female behavior.

But only one of the two victims is dead.

By the way, research done in Amsterdam has concluded that the neural pathways of a transsexual person match the patterns of their chosen gender when examined by cutting the hypothalamus into thin slices. They studied dead transsexual bodies to reach this conclusion, as well as non transsexual hypothalamusses. There's a distinct pattern change in visible "dots" in the hypothalamus for each gender. One is much more clumped, the other much more spread out.

My post didn't make any mention of the validity (or lack thereof) of a transgender's condition/personality/majic juju, whatever you want to call it. What my post stated was the common reaction to it, and how many people would be (and likely have been) traumatized by the idea.

It has only been in the last few decades that it has become medically possible to take a person born into one sex and modify then surgically to appear the other sex. There are many people that - rightly or wrongly - have not been emotionally conditioned to comprehend or even acknowledge the concept of a transgendered person. At the very least, finding out the fact mid- or post-coitus is by every stretch of imagination the likeliest worst time to reveal such a fact.

And no, that does not justify the loss of life. But it goes a ways towards explaining the murderer's state of mind during the deed.

Oh, only the first line of that post was actually directed at yours. Then I started rambling aimlessly and raffling off scientific and other circumstantial evidence that sometimes persuades people who are "skeptical" about the validity of transsexuality and similar things to see things differently. I'm not saying you are or anything, or that I don't understand why it isn't widely accepted.

Who knows someone might read it and feel enlightened. >_>

From my perspective this case is just the latest among many, going back for a very long time in our so-called civilization. I've been following such things for quite a while, due to my own deep-seated fears of letting even a hint of this side of myself show in public. I wish I could just dismiss those fears, but in terms of the dangers of simply being yourself, being transgendered is right up there in the top of the list.

Here's someone who says it much better and more bravely than I:

And some info on just how many transgendered people have gotten killed in recent years daring to be themselves:

Sometimes it is not even transexuality or homosexuality that incites the violence. This story got lost in the headlines as it happened shortly before September 11, 2001.

Would I be a bad person if I wished that the people who do this kinda thing were the ones to get shot/stabbed/burned to death instead of their victims? :(
