From: Ovaltine Constantine So I guess what I'm asking is, what do I have to do to get 100 frames per second? Well really, I don't need 100. I don't even need 70, I just want to be able to stand in a place with more than a few avatars and not be watching a slide show. So, does everyone pretty much agree that the CPU is mote likely the (biggest) problem? If adjusting your graphics settings in-game does not significantly affect your framerate, then I'd say the CPU is definitely the bottleneck here, and updating to a newer, more powerful one will have a profound effect on your framerate. Unfortunately, in your case, you will need to update your motherboard as well, since the one you have will not be able to handle any of the more recent processors.

The Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 640 MB is basically a high end card even though it is a couple generations old now. It is an awesome card for SL, really. If the drivers are good and there are no other problems with conflicts and such then yes, the CPU is a prime suspect but to be honest that Pentuim D is roughly equivelent to my AMD 4400+ and with the 8800gtx I have it still gets close to 100 FPS without all the eyecandy tuned on. Go here and run the full test in Exlporer http://www.pcpitstop.com/ and see if it finds problems with your setup.

Well I did the pcpitstop test and then did a bunch of the stuff it told me to do. I went from being in the bottom 49% to being in the top 49%...I don't really see the difference.
