I have this issues with slowing down every 10 minutes on
Windows 7. Is it because of region or the maintenance?
My computer is new and it used to run really good on Vista.

I'd guess that something else on your PC is running every 10 minutes and taking time from SL. Could be something on the region, though - does this happen at different places?

Yes, it happens to every region.

Open up the task manager, ctrl-shift-esc, and get to the Processes tab. If CPU isn't listed as a column, hit up the View menu and do Select Columns to add it. If there's a Show All Users checkbox or something at the bottom of task manager, click that too. Also do Aways On Top in the Options menu.
Click where it says CPU to sort the processes by how much CPU they're using. If SL is running, that should be on top and eating up most of the system. Mess around with the column widths and stuff and sorta move task manager over so it's not blocking too much of your SL. When the problem happens, watch what task manager shows is also eating up CPU time. SL will probably still be on top but I'd bet that something else will be eating up time too - anything over 5-10% is worth making note of. Also, the stuff above is for XP but Win7 should be pretty close.. _____________________

System information might be useful.
Amount of ram, type of video card, amount of video ram, and other such hardware info. What version of SL are you using? What kind of anti-virus and other anti-malware software are you using? What are the make and model of your router and modem? What kind of internet service do you have? When you say you have issues with slowing down every 10 minutes, what is that is slowing down exactly? Your whole computer, or just SL, or what?// Have you tried doing a "Detach All" so you don't have any attached scripts running? _____________________

My computer is very good one.
I think that the maintenance is causing this trouble. I'd hope that it'd be over soon. Oh and um I'm not the only person that has slowing down issues in Second Life. My friends also having slowing down issues. This never happend before but when there's maintenance happening, we all started to slow down every 10 to 20 minutes. _____________________

I think that the maintenance is causing this trouble. When LL does maintenance, they restart the region. There's really nothing they do on purpose that will bite you every 10 minutes. Oh and um I'm not the only person that has slowing down issues in Second Life. My friends also having slowing down issues. This never happend before but when there's maintenance happening, we all started to slow down every 10 to 20 minutes. Could it maybe be happening whenever somebody TPs into the region? That'd be SVC-3895. _____________________

Yes lol.
You are right. I don't know what that thing is but I'd wish that maintenance should be done by now. _____________________

I have good Anti-Virus programme and um good internet service. What I meant by "slowing down every 10 minutes" is actually slowing down whole SL and my pc. _____________________

No, my PC is perfectly fine, really. I have good Anti-Virus programme and um good internet service. What I meant by "slowing down every 10 minutes" is actually slowing down whole SL and my pc. You're PC may be fine, as you say. But your "slowing down" every 10 mins says otherwise. My PC does not slow down even after 3 or 4 hours. Occassional bouts of lag, yes I experience that........but once the lag spike passes I'm right back where I was before it happened. Something is happening to you that is not happening to the vast majority of other users.........that points directly at your computer, your connection, or how your computer (and it's installed hardware, peripherals, etc) is set up. No one can give you any insight into the problem without something to go on.......insist it's something on LL's end and you'll likely continue to have the problems you are having. Help us to help you and you may get it resolved. |

uh huh, Peggy, by the way. I'm not the only person that's having slowing down issues, okay? One of my friend has XP, he says the region slows down as well and my other friend has Windows 7 as well and it does same problem as my Emerald Viewer. Yes, I've seen that posts already so. And I think that Sindy is right. _____________________

The problem you discribed is not what SVC-3895 is about. The issue Sindy posted is a bug that Babbage Linden is working on. The problem it causes is that when some avatars tp into a sim the sim can stop for up to 30 secs. It's not a cumulative thing as far as I can tell from reading all the comments. So if you are slowing down every ten minutes but recovering in about 30 secs then you are probably experiencing the problems associated with SVC-3895. There's probably little can do to fix it.
But, if you are having some other problem (which is how I read your initial post and all posts since) then it's very likely a problem that will not get corrected until you do something on your end or find where your issue originates. It's not likely to be LL's end. Since you refuse to try to help us offer you suggestions by posting some information then I wish you luck. New computers tend to have old drivers. Old drivers often cause problems. Without some information no one can even offer you a link to a possible fix for your problem. It's up to you. |

Yep - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-3895 is almost always related to people TPing into a region.
/me still suspects there's some other problem on your PC which you might be able to spot with task manager. New computers, in addition to usually having older drivers, also tend to have lots of crap installed on them. edit: and you can also try watching the statistics bar in SL, ctrl-shift-1, and seeing if the 'sim fps', *NOT* the 'fps', number drops when you have the problem. If the problem happens and it looks like all the numbers are stuck and not updating, that's SVC-3895. If it looks like the numbers are updating but the sim fps is near 45.0, the problem is on your PC or the network between you and SL.. _____________________

POST YOUR PC info! its NEW and the best is not info no one should even humor you with answers .. "NEW" "fast" "super" "fine" are not specs they are what you think you have ran great with Vista? maybe your drivers are messed up with WIN7 maybe you have a bad install, only in SL maybe your GPU isn't working with the drivers you installed .. too many variables... without knowing what we are even looking at. ... Sorry if its harsh but you wont even say its a duo core ...

Thanks for guessing. Edit: Like what LL said, there will be 5 minutes retarts in regions so, I think that LL is working hard to fix the problem. Edit2: I'll wait for the Maintenance to be finished then ![]() Thank you everyone for giving me some of advices. Huggies ![]() _____________________
