Howdy, anyone here have any luck running the game with Geforce 2 MX cards?? Ive tried a few similar cards and they all seem to produce newview errors and crash immidatly under windows xp, does second life require the video card to have pixel shaders to even run the client??

We shouldn't have any issues with the GeForce2MX's, although we haven't tested explicitly on this board. You might want to try updating your video card drivers - we've had problems in the past with older versions of nVidia's drivers.

If you send your SecondLife.log file (in c:\) to support@secondlife.com, as well as your Dr. Watson log files if you're on Windows 2000 or XP, we'll be able to debug this more.

See /111/2a/65/1.html to see how to file a bug...

Good news, last night I updated the drivers (apparently Nvidia released new driver updates very recently because I just updated them last month) This seemed to solve the problem and now the game runs great

I have a problem with newview, and get error messages every time i go into the program. I was wondering, what exactly was the error message you were getting? Because mine says something about a microsoft visual c++ runtime library problem with it (runtime error).

Hmm... Runtime errors, I think, are unfortunately not caught by our automated error handler. If you send an e-mail with your SecondLife.log file (should be in c:\) to support@lindenlab.com, and a description of what's going on, we should be able to do a bit more debugging of what's going on... See the post referred to previously in this thread for more details.
