Mic not working

ok, this is irritating me. I even went out and got a new mic thinking the other one was busted. I have tryed everything to get my mic to work, but nothing seems to work. i have tried all the mic things to plug into my computer, and tryed all the input/output things, and yet it still dosent work. the mic works on MSN and other instant messengers, but not SL, whats wrong?

still havent goten an answer...is there any way i can contact someone from lindens?

yeah i had mic/headphones issues and still do from time to time..lots of the time it's just sl borked. Try this - Assuming windows xp and mic/headphones is plugged in pink and green - you can also try try in back of pc too, as this goes straight into motherboard - turn on pc with hardware connected - don't try to do it just b4 or during sl. never works - on start up, go to my computer > audio sounds tab and test hardware (cycle through tabs at top to find this) - it should then give levels and playback volumes. Assuming green bar is going up when talking, fiddle with volume to suit on both, u can adjust to reduce feedback. In sl edit prefs voice chat, enable voice, check device settings (this shows hardware connected) and sort push to talk mode as appropriate. I just leave mine on all the time. This may annoy people, because they can hear you sighing and muttering, but I find the voice toggle thing awkward. Tab talk button bottom right of screen. Ensure your main pc volume tab is up not muted. You can see list of active speakers. You may need to play around with this and check you are in a voice activated region too. You should see the green thing above your head. It's a bugger to get working and some people may suggest a usb conection is better. Good luck and let me know how u get on. It dosent work. I know that my mic is working, it works on MSN, Yahoo, Vent, all that stuff. but on SL, nothing. I have tryed everything, it cant be my mic, since i have tryed 2 different mics, it has to be SL thats messing it up

need to bump this, still no answer -.- i got it to work on vent, but still cant get it to work on SL

Edit: ok...well while i was testing people said they could hear me. which i find strange, because those green wave things dont appear above my head when im talking. what could make this happen?

make sure your mic input volume is turned way up in SL. if you are ultra quiet it wont show any green wavy lines... yet other people will still be able to turn their volume control of you up and hear you.

I have the same problem now.... I don't use voice a lot so I dont know when it started... but my voice works fine, and other people can see my green waves fine.. but they dont show up on my screen at all.
