Hi all,

since nearly 2 months I am trying to make SL run on my new laptop (it was especially bought for SL!).

After 3-5 minutes in SL I cannot do anything, the minimap turns red, I can just turn myself around, cannot walk, tp, send messages, open NCs and so on.

I tried the normal things like:
- updating graphic card driver
- updating all other stuff (chipset, utilities, LAN, VGA, Audio, ATK, other etc. except BIOS)
- making the "ping" test to see if all packages arrive (after 6 tests only 2 in each test got lost)
- checking routers and updated the system (or whatever you can update there *g )

So now I am completely lost!

Maybe it's the graphic card like in the thread here:

I would appreciate every kind of help!
(and yes I checked all other posting here before, but did not find any solution for my problem)

Here are my technical settings (which fit the SL recommended settings):

Operating System:
Windows Vista 32bit

Prozessor and cache memory:
Intel Core™ 2 Duo for Mobile T8300 Penryn / 2x 2,40 GHz
Cache 3 MB
Front Side Bus 800 MHz

Main memory:
Größe 3072 MB
Technologie DDR2 Dual Channel
DDR2 667 MHz SDRAM, 2 x SODIMM socket for expansion up to 4GB SDRAM
*Due to the 32-bit operation system's limitation, only 3GB will show up with a 4GB memory. The 64-bit operating system will not have this issue. For more information, please check Microsoft's support site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946003 Display

Redmap means that you've lost connection with the sim. Updating your vid drivers and stuff like this (usually) is a good idea but probably won't do anything to help you in this case..

Not sure what "the ping test" is. Normally, when I ping something it sends 4 packets to the destination and tells me how long it took, or it if timed out. Is this what you're talking about? If so, there's something really, really wrong with your network if you're loosing 2 of the 4 packets in each test..

Are you using a wireless network?

2 dropped packets out of 6 is very bad! Think of it this way - 33% of the data is getting lost. With that kind of loss, it's a wonder you can do anything! Check the network/ISP.

okay, my description was a bit bad, sorry.

1 test = sending 100 packages, 2 got lost

I repeated the test 6 times. every time only 2 packages got lost of 100

That's still not very good..

Are you doing a "ping -t" or something else? Along with the two lost packets, do you see response time spikes as you're running SL? How about when you're not running SL?
