Ok I've reported this twice now. Nothing rotates for me. I thought my rotate script was broken so I asked Nada to look at it. He said the object I pointed out was rotating just fine. For me it is still. Travels around the world now I notice *nothing* is rotating.
Other people see it, I dont. Anyone?
I have a P4 2.5 ghz, Win XP, GF 4 4600Ti, Gig o ram, cable and all the "correct" drivers.

Sounds like it's time for a new rubber band. Could it be one of the debug settings? I guess that means that rotating is implemented at the hardware level? Cool.

I am with ya MJ! I also have this problem. I tested it to see if it was the software of my hardware. I came down to it that It is probably a hardware problem. The PC I normally use and cannot see rotation on has a Geforce 3 Ti500 in it, with the current drivers. I tested it against my laptop with a Gefore MX (the mobile chip, forgot the exact name). With that computer I could see rotations just fine.
I think it may be...
1) Directly related to Hardware, though I don't see this being the case, as I could see rotation before
2) An issue when my drivers were updated.
Lindens, any notes on this... A fix would be Awesome!
PS: Glad to know I am not the only one missing out!

I'm having the same problem. I thought everything was fine until someone mentioned the birds circling overhead and I said they were not moving. I have the GeForce MX420 with the 40.72 driver. I tried the recommended 43.45 but then I got the dreaded no shoulder connect disease. I tried a bunch of different drivers and none worked correctly. So I went back to 40.72 with no rotation. Any advice would be appreciated. I want to see it all!

Buck, I believe the recommended driver is 41.09 for the MX cards. Not sure if it'd help with the rotations, but...

I've also had this problem ever since I started SL. Si made a rotating object once, and I had no clue it was rotating, we had a great confusing argument about it until we realized, hey, it doesn't rotate for me, but does for him . I can't see rotations, never could

Ok I've been lagging like crazy lately so I fiddled with my system a bit. I cleaned out my temporary files and I cleared my cache. Anyway, when I logged back in I can now see rotations again. So, if you cant see rotations clean your cache and temp files... something there fixed it.

Still nothing rotates. I cleaned the cache, installed the latest 44.03 driver and several other fixes. I checked nvidias website and they don't offer support because they are only OEM. Dell said it's the game and they won't offer help (so much for their warranty). I've talked to a couple Lindens and they go by the outdated site info recommending the 41.09 driver but that's worse for me. Some one must know a fix...

Yes, I cleared out every temp file I could find on my computer and also installed the latest 45.23 driver. I did receive a reply from support and it said they sent my message to engineering and that they would look into it....

We've been kicking this problem around the office, but we don't have many good ideas yet as to what could be causing this.
It is not related to graphics drivers at all. That is a red herring.
Here's a question for the affected users:
Is there _any_ interpolation of objects happening when this problem is occuring? That is, objects that are moving linearly... do they jump from point to point only during object updates, or do they move smoothly between updates? Note, very low frame rate will make this difficult to determine without turning on the Debug->Show_Updates option (NOTE this option is "sticky" and will persist after a logout/login cycle). An answer to this question would help us narrow in on the problem.
Basically, your client gets updates for each object from the servers which may include velocity and angular velocity information. If either of the velocities are non-zero then the client will move/rotate the object.
There is a field in the file called settings_default.ini that will disable interpolation and cause this problem, however the only way to toggle this setting is to manually edit the settings_default.ini file; there is no debug menu option or hot-key combination to toggle it. I presume that none of you have been manually futzing with the default settings.
If the objects aren't rotating then either:
(a) The setting VelocityInerpolate has been set "FALSE" or
(b) the velocity info did not reach the client
Now (b) can be caused by packet-loss or a bug in the server. Packet-loss comes with many noticable problems and shouldn't specifially target object angular velocities.
While a bug in the server is a possibility I'm stumped by the aspect that this problem affects certain users and not others. When it comes to angular velocities everybody should be getting the same numbers.

When I had this problem nothing rotated.. meaning it (anything scripted to rotate) showed no indication of any movement at all. Logging in or out over days never helped.
As stated, clearing my cache and temp files worked for me... I'm thinking I may also have emptied my SL trash about that same time. Not really sure what exactly it was that fixed it but that fix worked for a couple other folks too... apparently there's more than one issue though since some still have the problem.

Going from what Andrew said, I don't know why MJ's cache clearing would work. Wouldn't deleting the cache cause an increase in bandwidth usage and could only increase packet loss. So that wouldnt seem to help Andrew's (b) case.

It's not driver related, nor bandwidth related from my experience. I had this issue since day 1 of installing SL. I have a Geforce 4 MX and am using the latest version of Nvidias drivers. I've tried different versions of them, nothing fixed it. I don't think its bandwidth because it's not like it happens from a packet loss of an object here or an object there, it happens consistantly, if things don't spin, NOTHING spins, ever, period. Plus I'm on a T1 and generally do not have lag issues with SL.
I would like to report that spinning is now working for me though, I recently installed a new harddrive into my computer and thus had to do a fresh reinstall of SL and using the same video drivers as before it is now working. My guess would be it does lie somewhere in the cache or local settings for SL. And that only by doing this completely new install of it was I able to fix the problem.

I need to also add that I did still see items using the spinning script. Its the rotate script that was not viewable.

Unable to see rotating obects I opened a thread on my problem, I am copying it here:
I just found out that some objects rotate in SL. I put a beacon in my light house, I was given a script for rotation. I asked why it didn't work for me and was told it was rotating. I have never seen a rotating object. I started SL with a Radeon but changed to a GeForceFX 5600 - 256mg about 3 weeks ago.
Miznomer and Darwin answered and told me of this thread.
I am a chronic chache cleaner, and clean temp files almost daily. I clean out SL cache too at least twice a week.
I redid everthing Miz suggested and zip, zilch, nada!!

Pituca, this really may be a stupid question so forgive me if it is...
Did you use the search feature to find *all* *.tmp files & delete? Or did you just delete from your temporary files folder?
I did the first rather than the latter. There was one file in there that was huge that I somehow suspect was the culprit in my case. I have no evidence. It's a hunch.

I had that same problem at one time where nothing rotated. Turned out it was a setting in the debug menu. Don't remember which one though.

I now have rotation! As per a suggestion from Daniel at Linden Lab, I completely uninstalled SL and re-installed it and that fixed the problem for me. I had assumed with each new version it was uninstalling the old because I saw the files deleting but I needed a complete reinstall to fix the problem.
Thank you very much Daniel, it's great seeing all the rotating objects I had been missing.
And thanks to everyone else for your suggestions.

I have rotation!! I did what Buck said, unistall and reinstall anew. Amazing.
Thanks for the IM Buck.
And Miz, I did all you suggested in your last post (I hadn't done the search) but it still didn't rotate.
Thanks to all for their help.
