I lost my avatar

i accept a tp from a friend and when i go to his place i was transformed to a girl.... after i change my avatar back to male everything was different... every setting i had make so far .... and nothing was in my inventory... which mean i cant get my avatar back .........

i contact to a linden and he told me about asset server problems..... and ask me if i had a backup of my avatar...

how could i know that in a simple tp i can lose my avatar ? no i dont have backups and i dont remember my previous settings to make a same one........ now what ? i lost it for a ever because server problems ?

Something similar happened to me the first time I teleported in 1.5. I do have a bought AVI, so if absolutely desperate (if it also disappeared from my inventory) I could have bought it again; however, someone had made quite a lot of changes to my avi shape to improve my looks and they were all lost after the teleport - I looked awful. At the time, the Preview version was still up and I knew I had been OK in there, so I logged in, went to Appearance and noted down every alterable settings. I then went back to the main version and changed all the settings to match, bringing me back to my former more beautiful self. I have now made sure I have a hard copy of all these settings just in case anything like that happens again. I was really very lucky this time and would hate to think I couldn't restore my looks. As a fall-back, I can highly recommend also buying an avi - at least it gives you a reasonable starting point.

I realise it is a bit late for you, especially if you have lost the contents of your inventory as well. Hopefully, though, these will reappear when all the problems are resolved - I also lost part of a (new!) outfit I was wearing, where they were replaced with 'default' (plain white) versions. I have been assured, however, that the original parts of my outfit will return in due course. I hope so.

Once again, what I've been talking about since 1.0, we need offline backup. We won't get it though.

noone from the support cant help me ? i lost my avatar without my fault... and they dont care about ? there is no service like costumers service or something ?

Sorry to hear nobody has helped you with this, George. I see in another thread someone solved their problem by going to Appearance and then hitting Cancel. I personally don't think that would have helped me, but may be worth a try for you?

If they've already made changes with Appearance and saved them, that won't work. It also won't work if logging out and back in didn't fix it.

Yeah that obviously happened to me. I first noticed my hair had changed, and went straight to Appearance to change it back. It was only after saving and closing Appearance that I got a good look at the front of my Avi and and saw the ugly face. I then tried relogging a few times but of course that didn't work.

it's no sence... noone from the support care about it ...
and if they do they will only say " we apologize blah blah blah... please keep backup..."

It isn't that no one cares, it's that there's nothing that anyone *can* do to help you, at this point. Sorry, George, these things happen, sometimes. I got lucky crossing into 1.5, and the only things I lost, I'd made, which makes things a little easier, but yes, it's a giant pain in the bum, and there's no easy fix.

This exact thing has happened to me today but also it will not let me log back into SL. I have checked to make sure I could reach google, i know sl is open and nothing that I could find in the Question and answering could help me anyone have any advice on what I could do?

As far as we can tell, Samin, SL is down.
