Ok.

So, I go to log on Second Life today.. and for the first time ever it crashes.
I try logging in again.. it crashes.

At this point I'm like.. what the hell is going on?

I tried logging in 10-20 more times.

As soon as the loading bar completes... Second Life crashes.

This never happened before, I have no idea why it is now

I even reinstalled Second Life.

Any tips about this problem?

I posted this thread, it sounds like the same problem but there has been no solution on it yet.

Okay, first thing, after you start SL, but before you login, go to the Edit menu, then open preferences. Go to the network tab and clear the cache. Quit SL, restart it and see if you can login.

If you still can't login, start SL, go to the edit menu, preferences and open the General tab. The first option is start location. Check the box that says "Show Start Location on Startup Screen". You'll get a new menu below you name to choose a different start location. You can choose your home, or type in the name of a region. Pick somewhere that's not the last place you logged out from. Try "Purple".

If you still can't login and your computer has an ATI graphics adapter, in Windows go to the Catylist Control Center. Somewhere in there is a checkbox for something called "Advanced AI". Uncheck it. Sorry, I don't know exactly where it is.

Good luck!

SL makes my pc crash.

I try to login, but it stops at "initialzing Multimedia", then my PC doesn't react anymore. Yesterday everything was fine, but suddenly in the middle of an RP my PC crashed.
I was there with a friend and he didn't have any problems. First I thought maybe my PC is overheated, but I tried now again, several hours later while the PC was turned off, and still SL doesn't let me in, and PC crashes again.

Here some infos:

AMD Athlon 64x2 dual
Core Processor 4000+
2,11 GHz, 1,87 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6150E

O/S: Windows XP SP 3

:/ halp

Edit: Now I tried the "clear cache" option but then it freezes my PC again. Hmmmm :x Reinstalling doesn't help either! I even tried to update my Drivers for the Graphiccard, not helping as well :/

What could that be?

If you can't clear your cache using the clear cache button on the network tab in preferrences there is an alternate way (probably a better way, in fact). Just below the "clear cache" button you will see the location to where your cache is located on your computer......write that path down and quite SL. Navigate to that location on your computer and manually delete the entire folder containing your cache. The viewer will rebuild the folder at your next login. Sometimes clearing the browser cache is helpful too.......it will take longer for the splashscreen and grid status to load the first time you launch SL but that sometimes clears DNS problems.

I don't even get that far, it just says "clearing cache" and then it freezes and I cannot do anything anymore. I even tried to manually delete the cache now but still it keeps freezing :/ and ONLY with Second Life. I can do anything else, I tried to install other viewers then the LIndenLab viewer and it still keeps crashing the whole PC. :/

Is it taking your computer down completely? I mean like locking your system up or a BSOD where you have to shut down the power to get your computer back?

Are they kidding us. I have been trying for 40 mins to get into SL. Same old crap check to see if there is a problem blah blah. Then when you do try there is nothing to indicate there is a problem
This has only happened since the updateand it really sucks
