When i first turned ripple on with my ati x800 PRO PCI-E(R423) it worked, when I turned it off and back on the water vanished. Upon restarting the program the water reappeared.

I'd bug report that, there is a few bugs, that with water on, if you enable/disable anistropic filtering the water vanishes and you have to relog, also if you switch to/from fullscreen to windowed the water vanishes and you have to relog.

Ok finally got my laptop to work, i suggest people try the latest drivers from the ati site, and if you cant get laptop drivers try those from www.omegadrivers.net

I add myself to the list of people with ripple water on an ati 9700 mobility using the omega catalyst 5.11's

They have a driver version of 6.14.10.6583

Im not the best clued up on ati's but hopefully that will help this is usually my 2nd test machine.

Rippled water working pretty good here on first run. I use a ATI 9800 Pro with CATALYST 5.10 drivers. The specs I find on the 9800 (Pro) are:

-Full support for Microsoft Direct X 9.0 programmable vertex and pixel shaders in hardware
-2.0 Pixel Shaders support

May be a bug. Let's dig deepah.

I think I've heard from Resis who have GeForce FX cards who've gotten it to work... anyone here on like a 5200, 5500, 5600, 5700, 5800, 5900, 5950, etc. who can see ripplewater? :)

GForce 5700 LE here. I can see the ripple water.

THE STARS OUR DESTINATION :)
Don't tell me, you're Guilfoyle of Ceres?

...

Does anyone have good Maori-style tiger facial tattoos? Not realistic or "furry" style, but something like what Gully Foyle would have had in "The Stars My Destination" / "Tiger, Tiger"?

I have a 5500, I can see it but it cuts my FPS in half when all I'm looking at is the water. Its almost as resource hogging as Local Lighting.

5600 here, works fine, no noticable FPS drop.

You sure it's invisible? I thought so too until I realized it was just that the water wasnt reflecting the light until I looked at it from a different viewing angle. I mean, it's nice looking, but I wont cry if I turn it off.

On a more positive note, local lighting kicks ass now that it doesnt lag the hell out of my computer.

I'm running on a Mac. Typing Option-Return switches SL between full screen mode and windowed mode. I had SL running full screen, ripple water worked fine. But when I hit Option-Return to go to windowed, the water disappeared. (and stayed disappeared until I relaunched)

The thing is, when you are running full screen, the app gets full access to all of the graphics chip. But when you are in windowed mode, the app has to share access to the chip with the rest of the apps - and Mac OSX Tiger uses the graphics chip for a LOT of stuff. So when I went to windowed mode, SL lost a bunch of resources including probably s goodly chunk of texture memory. Thus the water disappeared (the rest of SL seemed to render well.)

By the way I'm using a purchased Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB VRAM) on this dual G4 machine.

LL, how about instead of adding NEW features to SL you fix the damn BUGS first?! Ever since SL 1.7 I've had to (and STILL have to) START SL under a new account because it's too stupid to accept my extended ASCII character in my user profile directory name! SL STILL lags hardcore when someone with a bajillion attachments (with or without listeners) comes in-view, forcing me to keep my visibility at 64m--and I have a Pentium D 820, 1GB dual-channel PC4200 (533MHz) RAM, and GeForce FX 6600GT system!

My mousewheel had to be forced to "Use MS compatible scroll only" AND "scroll in active window only" mouse settings in order for the mousewheel to work in SL 1.7 too!

Disabling fog from the debug menu, then selecting some objects, causes some kind of mipmapping texture bug or something where all the prims turn yellow at certain distances from the camera (like fog is ONLY on those, but much closer, or something).

And, yes, I've reported ALL of these bugs!

FIX THE DAMN BUGS BEFORE ADDING NEW FEATURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Follower trouble

I have a very high-tech follower (capable of string processing, etc) that won't follow me into a particular part of Clyde on the preview grid.

Specifically, it won't go past Clyde (155,159). Anyone else have follower troubles?
