This also happened to me in Immaculate a few weeks ago. The sim crashed repeatedly, then it crashed once again and rolled back several hours. I put up a large part of my building during the time that no longer happened, costing me big bucks and severe aggravation. I also lost more work than just from those hours since I had to re-write scripts that were inside objects that I rez'd into world without keeping a copy. Filed the bug report as advised by the Linden I IM'd, and received no reply whatsoever.
I can't believe this is still happening. It happened once or twice during beta testing, yes, I can live with that; they had a bug, they just fix it and move on. The more times I hear this story, though, the more I wonder how well written is the system. Come on, guys, databases have perfected atomic transactions years ago! I'm sure you can get similar reliability and data integrity out of whatever data storage method you're using.
What I worry about most is the droves of people that will be driven out by this, once they pay their money, build their stuff, and have it disappear. The individual incidents are regrettable but isolated. The people leaving will cause SL to fail commercially. Bugs that cause loss of data integrity must be fixed before release.

Im waiting for a reply still from a linden about this to see their view point, if something like this happens when a server crashes then what will happen when this game goes live? Will our stuff be safe.

Process for Request L$ Refunds for Bugs
05-26-2003 20:46
Hi guys -
I feel your pain as no one likes to see hard earned dollars disappear. We're trying hard to minimize these occurrences but if you encounter a bug where you feel a L$ refund is in order, please file a Bug Report (found under Help menu).
Filing a Bug Report attaches some helpful system to your report which allows us to debug the issue. In special situations we might request an email to support@lindenlab.com but for the most part a Bug Report is the way to go.
Thanks!

Refunds
05-27-2003 10:55
Just to let you know, we have been issuing refunds as necessary, especially when the servers crash and we have to rollback to a previous saved version. Several people have been given refunds after they emailed support@lindenlab.com.
In some cases, we issued refunds though the resident wasn't aware that we had done so. An in-world notification is sent anytime we make a financial adjustment, but in some cases, the resident did not see the message.
