Login Troubles

its about 3:53am PST, Sept 7th (yeah I am a night owl). Anyway I just started my 7 day trial but I can't log in. I have opened the ports listed in service and support (both UDP and TCP because tech support ALWAYS leaves that part out grr) and the game seems to connect fine until it says "Connecting to region..." then the bar stops moving and the whole game seems to just hang, except the mouse still works as does the little quit button in the lower right. Other than that I can leave it sitting for several minutes with no change. I have a very fast internet connection so I know that cant be it. Does ANYONE know whats going on? I am anxious to try this thing out but if its gonna be a pain in the @%$# I'll just put my money elsewhere

Exactly the same thing hs just THIS second happened to me. I'm new aswell. Any suggestions?

There have been some problems with the logon servers evidently. I'm having trouble logging in too and I'm not new.

There is a post about this in the announcements forum but basically Linden Labs are saying that the servers are running but some people might have trouble logging in for a while until the service settles back down again.

BTW. Did you get a message about your Chip set or something? Because mine was warning of an out of date SiS AGP Chipset.. but its up to date! Wondering if you had the same problem

same thing is happening to me. glad the trial is free.
but if this isnt cleared up in a few days can the people who signed up today get an extension?

I've never been treated that well on certain other free trials unfortuantely... But you never know! This game IS about the community! (HINT HINT!!!)

I hear that. Why on earth did they LET us download it if it isn't working. I'm desperate to find a good RPG... as in R>>P>>G!! This seemed like a good bet I'm alittle dissapointed with the start to say the least!

from looking through this forum it seems this problem has been around since the first of the month. 10 bucks says if this had been a problem with the server that authorizes and charges credit cards, it would have been fixed within hours.

Absolutely. I've been reading through the forums and apparently the game server crashed a coupla days ago. They've only just been able to get it up again.

it just happend like 5 mins ago, login is now freezing at connecting to region, similar to the last time the other day but at a different stage, it looks like its all crash again

if by 5 mins you mean 9 hours ago...

no, i was just in game a short while ago and i got booted with the 'sim going down' message, and now cannot re enter the game as it freezes at connecting to region stage

I'm experiencing the same problem in 'connecting to region'.

Thats probably them reconfiguring the server. Leave it for tonight... ro today or whatever. This may just be sorted by morning!

judging by forum names no one can get on for last hour or more why no announcement from the Lindens.... is anyone been able to get into the world, I still cannot get past connecting to region

It is now fast approaching 11 hours of my free trial wasted, WASTED! Still the server or whatever seems to be not working, all that matters is I cannot play. Half a day of my free trial IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Has there been any kind of announcement from Linden or anyone official regarding this matter?

If you've read the announcements... AND I'm SURE you have Theres a patch tommorow morning from 5-9 PDT.

Yes but then a full 24 hours of my trial will be gone. I have read their announcements they also claim that the servers are currently up and running. Frankly I don't know what to believe.
