Account unavailable?

My viewer says my account is not available until 1/2 an hour later. I try a half hour later. nothing. Then it told me it couldn't connect to the second life web page today. I clear the cache and web stuff no it's back to unavailable. I don't understand what's going on has my account been suspended or something? Should I reinstall my viewer? Or maybe try another viewer. I searched the helps section there's nothing available and I see can't ask for help via support tickets. What do I do?

** I tried running it with my firewalls off. Nothing same issue. Also I double checked my account status to see if it game me any clues. It says I'm still "active" I assume is I was suspended this would tell me that or I would get some kind of email about it. Right?

I don't think your account has been suspended. The message you get or that is something in the nature of "Sl cannot be accessed from this computer" instead of telling you a time frame of when the account may be available. It appears your avatar is ghosted...........you are logged off but the servers don't know that. If you have an alt account try logging in with that one and find your avatar. If you see it then contact either the estate owner or LL (if on mainland) and ask for a restart or help.

It is not an unusual occurrance..............but I know it's annoying when it happens.

I filed a support ticket. They're telling me I'm "stuck in world" to but there suggestions are the same ones I already tried. No it's giving me a time frame but the time frame is yesterday. I'll try and see if my character is there. Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize that could happen.

There are several postings about this.. your ghosted. Need a sim restart to kick you out

Every once in a while a ghosting can be remedied if you pay your ghosted self 1L, send an IM, or bump the avatar over a sim line. It's not usually helpful but it's worth a try.

Is it just me or has there been a big increase in these posts lately?

I didn't even realize there were other posts... I read the forum a few pages back too. Thank you for all the help everyone. Is there a way to figure out where my avatar is without being able to log on?

Wasn't trying to give you a hard time, Madeline. Was really just asking the other forum regulars if it seemed like we were seeing waaay more posts than normal about this particular problem.

I didn't think you were Maede It's okay. I'm just stating I didn't realize this was a huge problem lately. Is there a way to get linden labs to reset my character? Or won't they because I'm a basic account.I don't really know for sure where she is?

If you've already got a support ticket going with them, that's probably the way to keep going.

Update the ticket and tell them that you've tried their suggestions (maybe even try them all again, just for good measure) but still seem to be stuck.

Thanks. Yeah I updated it. It's so annoying 'cause I try logging on as her and it shows me in Caledon's changing room. I go there and she's not there. I IM her and it says she's offline but I look her up and it says she is online.

It's useful to have an alt with map-tracking capabilities for just this type of thing.

Have you tried logging into a different region or to your home?

I have an alternat account. I just have no idea how you would do that.

Try specifying a different location to log in to.

From the login screen, hit control P to open preferences, and in the general tab near the top select "show location on login screen".

After you do this there will be a new box at the bottom of the screen.

Enter a safe sim name in that box. I suggest "Tigger" because a friend of mine owns the sim and it's usually a pretty safe to just appear in.

Yeah. if you can remember where you were last, that might help. Perhaps one of the places in your picks?

I believe it was caledon. but when I got to the place I believe I was with my alt
I am not there. So I don't think I know the actual location of my avatar.

Friend each other then tick the box on the Friends pane that is for map-tracking. Of course, you can't do it until you are free, so it will only be useful in the future.
