Hello, maybe someone can help us with this issue: my friend bought a new computer with OS Vista and the nvidia 9600 Graphics card. 3 things seem to be wrong: 1) when first entering SL with the new computer the graphics preferences in quality were set to LOW! This seems to be the first hint that something is not ok here... I would have expected that it is minimum set to HIGH or even to ULTRA and not to LOW as in this case. 2) the viewer crashes completely when trying to make a photo in-world and download it to the harddrive. It works fine with sending it via email to my friend but thats really a mess (she is photographer and wants to make more than one pic in a session) 3) the viewer crashed completely when trying to upload a pic from the harddrive to in-world. I have read some of the posts about the 9600 nvidia. Some people could solve problems with the card by installing different versions, mostly older ones, of the card driver. But I am not quite sure if in this case thats a pure graphics card problem. Maybe some of you experts have an idea about a solution? Any hint may help us ... Thx in advance. Neil

Hi Neil,
I'm seeing the same crash on uplaod a file issue. I run Vista on a laptop and have a different graphics card, an ATI 3650, so I don't think it's anything to do with that.
I did take a snapshot to disk though, and I can take a snapshot in world and save to inventory, but "Save Texture As .." crashes the viewer too.

Hello, I have been having the same problems, I can't upload anything. the only way I can take a pic is to send it via e-mail or save to inventory, cannot download to my hard drive at all. this is very frustrating, stared happening whenn i got this latest viewer.... I don't understand it. I have the Radeon ATI card, not NVIDIA.... and i love to work in making things clothes etc.. and can't upload, really suck....
Can't this be fixed?? has to be a bug??

I have Vista Win 64bit, Driver is HD3400, updated and everything. Everything works great but I cannot upload at all - blank window, try and put something in and it crashes the program. I have asked Lindens.. no reply! Searched these forums but it sounds like you guys are having the same probh. We all have ATI graphics cards, different levels tho. All have Vista 64 bit I think. I think the two plus SL are screwing something up somewhere
PLEASE HELP US!!!

Ok found this in another forum so I cannot take credit for this but it works and I am able to upload again. Seems that this is a Acer type computer system problem, which I have and its about the Edatasecurity program that comes with it. I uninstalled this program from my control panel > uninstall programs - Acer edatasecurity Yeah - im so happy! ) Original post was here: /111/a5/270741/1.htmlGood luck guys! Jen
