1) we dont work for LL
2) do you want to clue us in on what your system is
3) demand all you like, since were not paid to deal with you, see how far it gets you

Up to 358MB Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

ugh, intel really needs to quit, its not even funny ... [/rant]

i always suggest starting at the same place install the latest drivers for everything in your machine, since yours is intel you get both the chipset and video drivers in one lump package

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=2800&DwnldID=15883&strOSs=152&OSFullName=Windows%20Vista*%20Home%20Basic,%2032-bit%20version&lang=eng

also since your running vista + video ram + whatever else, hit control + alt + delete then choose "taskmanager" and tell us how much free ram you have

ie if vista is sucking down a gig (cause its a pig), the video card is sucking down ~350 megs and you have 128mb of crap net to the clock your below the system requirements in terms of ram

Now as for RAM this is what reads:

Physical Memory (MB)-
Total-2037
Cached- 929
Free-21-0 (it moves up and down on this)

As a Vista Home Premium user myself I can tell you that 2 gigs will not do it with onboard video chip sets. Vista takes nearly a gig for itself, SL take over half a gig........toss in the system RAM your video is stealing and you ain't got enough. You'll crash.

You can turn off all the Aero stuff in Vista....it helps. But you need another gig of RAM to really fix your problem.

The problem with doing that, Drakius, is that there are others who browse these forums looking for solutions and for whatever reason they don't ask for themselves.....going to email or otherwise privately resolving problems leaves them out.

Plus........that begins to get into real tech support. Which none of us are qualified to do. Well, maybe a couple here are qualified but they are not "licensed" to do so.......in other words, not protected in anyway. We can and do offer suggestions......no guarantees. Most of the time eventually someone hits the right thing and somone gets their problem solved. And maybe they will offer something to another person looking for help.

Thats the beauty of this forum.

Is there a way to limit the amount of ram the onboard video processor uses?

Is this a case where setting SL Preferences Graphics Hardware Options Texture Memory to, say, 128 might be of some use?

Go to your control panel. Click on System Performance and Maintenance. Click on "Classic View" on the left panel. Then click on Performance Information and Tools. Click on "Advanced tools" on the left panel. Then click on adjust appearance and performance of Windows. In the dialog box check the box for "performance".

That turns off all the Aero stuff and makes Vista look more like XP. It also frees up some of the RAM Vista is using just to run.

If you keep stuff running like instant messaging, Skype, and email checkers, turn them off. Anything that takes resources that you don't need while running SL turn off. I only keep my firewall and anti virus/anti malware programs running. I sometimes have my internet browser open and running but I have enough RAM for that..........but I can tell a difference if the browser is running.
