OK at the town hall meeting a veryu important subject came up which it seems everyone but the lindens know about, object drift.

if you put a object at a particular spot, chances are its not going to be exactly the same spot when you come back later. It will be very close, but it will no longer align perfectly with other objects around it creating seams in your building.

Most of the time if you click on the object it will pop back into place, but its very annoying to have to do that all the time, also i am not sure if it fixes it for other peopl's client.

Now the real problem i have is object drift on attachments, these do not pop back into place when you click on them, probably it has to do with the way lossy compression works and the attachment's postition gets saved over and over as it is attached and reattached. Eventully parts of the attachments don't line up anymore, and you better hope you have an old version saved somewhere.

I second that. I've started noticing little things going out of alignment on my attachments... a flashing LED migrating from the center of a device to the edge, etc.

At least one Linden is aware of this problem

At least for unattached objects.

I have experienced a similar bug (or perhaps another symptom of the same bug) using llSetPos.

I have a script that alternates the position of an item between two locations each time it's touched. Randomly (about 33% of the time) after the item jumps to the new position it will begin to drift in the direction it just moved. The object will just keep going until:
a) Someone touches the object, resetting its position (via another llSetPos call), or
b) I edit the object, when it will jump back to where it's supposed to be.

When it drifts, it appears to drift to all present. However, several things make me believe that it is just a client thing:
a) the object in question occasionally emits a puff of steam. Even after the object appears to drift through the ceiling or floor, the steam continues to appear from where the object should be.
b) If I leave the zone and return, it appears to be where it should be TO ME, not to witnesses that remained in the zone.
c) (as mentioned above) Editing it snaps it back to where it should be.

This is annoying as we need to touch it to reset it (or be quick on the Edit), but once our clients believe it's gone through the floor or ceiling, we can't reach it.

I've only noticed this since the last patch, but I may have just been lucky before that.

I've been able to reproduce this recently while working on the model for our airdock so it is still a problem. If one of the Linden's are interested, I should be able to setup a demonstration of the problem.

I've noticed that on my headset (a scanner from the Great Technician Bel Muse) there is a small light at the end of the mouthpiece. It has gradually come loose and is now quite disconnected. Also, a belt I wear seems to move a bit over time on it's own. I can adjust the belt back, but I can't fix the scanner.I'll have to go back to Bel for a replacement.
