can anyone help? since the last update, 2 weeks ago approx, all avatars appear distorted, i.e. heads upside down, feet detached from the body, etc. almost unrecognizable. everything else in world seems ok apart from the avatars. can anyone help?

Screen shot, client version (RC?), any computer specs, etc, please.
Saying that you updated two weeks ago means probably using the RC (Release Candidate) so I'd recommend trying the 'main' client (1.19.1.4) and see if that fixes it for now. _____________________

i have unistalled adn installed SL again and again, so i think i do have 1.19.1.4 but problem still persists

Log in and go to help>About Second Life.
The version # of the client is the first line. Mine reads: Second Life 1.20.8 (88152) blahblahblah. If yours reads anything with '1.20.X' in it, you're using the RC. _____________________

it reads Second Life 1.19.1 (4). how do i send you a screenshot?

Try uninstalling SL again and before reinstalling do a search of your computer and manually delete anything that is related to SL. Also, save the download to your computer and install from that download file instead of using the auto install from the web site.
