My avatar has a shredded appearance, looks like Jesus on the cross with loads of fringe hanging down and my head is in my ass. Help! I tried rebaking texture and I tried character tests. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Depends on which viewer you're using (Help / About Second Life)...
If it's 1.19.1 then Edit / Preferences, under Graphics... check Custom. If "Hardware Skinning" is checked, uncheck it and see if that doesn't fix it. (Other than that, try Advanced Options and uncheck "Enable OpenGL VBO"  --- If none of those helped... open Help / About Second Life... (assuming you're using Windows) Click in the top text pane... Ctrl-A to select all the text, Ctrl-C to copy it and then Ctrl-V to paste it in a post here. That'll contain which viewer you're using and which video card you have which will help anyone in offering more specific suggestions  . |

Well, when I logged on a second computer I look fine. So, I hope this is the end of it. If it looks bad again on that first computer, I will post a screenshot for all of ya, 'cuz it was WEIRD! I have never in all my SL life seen anything like it. Thanks to all who replied.

I had the exact same problem with "shredded" avatars. I followed Kitty Barnett's instructions about unchecking Hardware Skinning, and everything looks great now. Thanks Kitty!

Shredded Avatar Lives On! But Only Temporarily...

It seems the Shredded Jesus effect only happens on my computer at work. It happens no matter who the avatar is, but only on this one computer. I did what Kitty said about uncheck hardware skinning, and voila! No more shredding. (Thanks, Kitt-ala)
