Second Life performance (or the lack thereof)

Well, since Peter assured me that Linden's IP is safe, I installed SL on one of my machines at work. It is a dual 1 ghz PIII Xeon with 2 gb of RAM and a GeForce 3 Ti. It also has fast SCSI drives (it's one of those DELL servers from a few years ago.) DAS is on a T1 and with 3 people there after 7, I had most of it. The performance was almost decent. There were occasional hiccups whenever large things would stream in and out, but I found it interesting.

I was too lazy to check to see if SL is threaded to use both processors. If anyone cares, I will. I am sorely tempted to take my computer to work and see what kind of performance I would get. I am even more tempted to install SL on some of our better computers. My coworkers already think that my terrain software is a virus, hehehe.
