Yes they will, thats unless its not malicous and there is a bug in some lsl code etc thats causing this. It seems very widespread, another sim i've just seen affected is bolinas, its recovered a bit but is very sticky to fly through, not sure if its spiralling down again but with a dilation of 1 and simfps of 200, i shouldnt be having this much trouble flying around. And just seen in hotline, people are reporting there now, with sims missing etc.

The lindens are going to massacare whoever is doing this if it's malicious.

One can only hope.

If it happens again, please send me an IM.

--------

I've tracked the problem to handoff of images.

It appears that "Send Imgs" spikes, followed by huge resend load under "Receive Msgs." Everything seems to recover after this unless something gets "stuck" - but during this, sim FPS drops extremely low (single and double digits) and no one can move.

I cannot find any culprit for this problem other than an increase in Child or Main Agents to the sim's statistics. I'm banking on there being a bad protocol in the pipeline as opposed to any form of resident "attack."

Here's the most recent shot from Disl.

Well, Lusk just crashed *AGAIN* and now we're on a BEAUTIFUL quad sim, running at 95 simfps. Sharing with three others. I'm so tired of this. Someone is crashing us intentionally. And every time, we play the roulette wheel for another useless piece of hardware.

Lusk must have crashed 10 times this weekend. That's more crashes than we've had ALL YEAR, since the beginning of 2005.

Okay. I have NEVER seen this before.

SimCPU keeps shooting down to 0.25, then up to 0.50, then down to 0.25.

Dilation goes from 1.0, to 0.3, to 1.0 - about once a second.

Lusk is, in fact, right now, *UNUSUABLE* with -ONE- agent.

Once again, we only have 77 actives. (Less than before!)

What IS different is that we have autoreturn on now in every area. Does anyone else seem to think that this lines up with: an object being rezzed in the sim that slows it down; it getting autoreturned; it being re-rezzed, and it getting autoreturned again? (As Eltee would say, wash, rinse, repeat?)

If I fed this graph into Sound Forge it'd make music. I've never seen this kind of thing before. Again, this undulation around 2:00 is, after a crash, and with *ONLY ME* in the sim.

The earlier problems cleared up *when we had LL return everything on linden land* and set it autoreturn. Now that it's set autoreturn, intead of grinding to a halt, it seems to dive, recover, dive, recover.

I tried something earlier, and I gave a similar sim a good looking over. This does not appear to be object lag.

One good hypothesis involves the fact sims seem to save data roughly every five minutes. Chances are the problem starts here, and is caused by a memory leak or bad protocol in the pipeline. This would account for why the lag "just went away" when objects were cleared from the land; fewer object updates in the next few cycles, only to return when the leak caught up.

I also tried to reproduce the bug in a random sim in a humorous way and was unable to do so. I tested my hypothesis about it being asset handoff by paying a money tree at a club and llDialoging the place about the donation. Sure enough, no fewer than 10 agents turned their camera toward the sim... and nothing happened to it.

The short version is the Lindens will need to take action. They had someone on the problem roughly 24 hours ago - with some luck, the problem will be resolved. In the meantime, it's very much "not just your sim," though I do understand the frustration.

As a footnote, sims off the main grid with no neighbors do not seem to be affected. The Game Dev sims, for example, were blissfully unaware of the problem on the main grid. However, I did notice this problem crop up randomly in some Linden sims near the sandboxen. One of them displayed a nice doughnut (0) for objects in that sim, and had nothing show up on my scanner sweeps.

Given it's a weekend, my guess is we won't see action until Monday unless half the grid goes down. In the meantime, continue to collect as much data as you can on the problem, so the Lindens can nail it effectively. And if Andrew or a tech Linden shows up online, let 'em have it. :D

jeffery it *IS* a malicious object, not a simulator problem... thats been basically proven now

and there are islands being attacked, but only public ones, that people can get to obviously

I've heard a number of reports of this in various sims lately, and seen it once myself in some random sim, cant remember which one offhand. Seems to have started to show up with the 1.6 patch, but its sporadic.

After all of Jeffreys hard work last night trying to track down the problem in Disl with my Brother the sim is still having this problem today. In fact it is worse than ever.

I did notice that today our Sim CPU stat is hitting 0.01 during a bad bout of this.

This is completely unacceptable. When talking to several Lindens on this issue I honestly feel like I am getting the brush off and they are trying to blame it on textures, neighbors looking into the sim anything and everything but something that they would have to fix.

Well it is time to act accordingly. they say e-amil support. ok I will multiple times a day until this is fixed. SO will the rest of my family (16 of us). Moreover I strongly suggest all land owners in whatever sims are having this problem do this as well.

Lets see if the squeeky wheel gets some grease here!

That's what I find insulting, too. Some of the Liaisons I've talked to on the matter have only been here for two months; we've been here for a year and a half and have dealt with problems like this before. Getting told that its our content, or that we are, basically stupid, and careless withour scripting/content/resource useage, is very insulting. It's an assumption that our sim is a wasteland of malls and badly scripted casinos.

Granted, the more 'veteran' Lindens (versus Liaisons) haven't said this...

But there's a problem when that's assumed to be the norm.

It's clear that there's a problem here.

Well, I guess the confounding issue there, is that our autoreturn is every five minutes, as well.

Ours in Disl is set to 1 minute. Jeff was looking at us when he came up with the 5 minute

Jeff was looking at us when he came up with the 5 minute

I talked with a friend of mine, who also suggested this five minute save timer. And yes, I mentioned this at the time.

eltee, while I understand your concern, I could not find an object as the root cause.

Further compounding this problem is the fact I searched the entire sim (Disl) looking for objects of this sort. We even had a Linden clear the Linden land in Disl of all objects, and the situation did not improve.

That said, can you give me any information on what this kind of object:

- Looks like
- Is named (for my sensor sweeps)
- Where it was found in your sim
- How it moves, if at all

If you can provide this information, I'll head to a few of the sims in question and see if I can track this sucker down myself if it is indeed the cause. I'll also see if I can find that 0-object Linden sim that had the problem, to further build my case.

In the meantime, all we can really do is sit tight and work with one another to figure the problem out. And hopefully get it fixed.

Now, Perry (Luskwood East) crashed. And of course, came back up on an erratic, dancing box.

This is getting *REALLY* tiresome.

well. Perry (Luskwood East) just crashed. That sim only has *38* actives in it, and had nobody in it.

There isn't much more I can say. There isn't really anything to say that hasn't been covered. Except now I've got to be panicking over both sides of our area...
