Pride Week Schedule

Greetings, everyone!!

I am in the process of putting together the Pride Week 2005 "Virtual LIfe, Real Pride" schedule. The diversity of events this year is dazzling--each holds the promise of great fun and great friends!

For this year's Pride Week to be a complete success, I, on behalf of the Pride Committee, would like to ask for your help. At the moment, we need:

--On-site event hosts (please IM me in-world for a list of events that are currently hostless)

--Off-site event hosts (If you are interested in hosting an event in conjunction with Pride Week 2005 at your own venue, please IM me in-world just as soon as you can)

The schedule is filling fast--please make sure to reserve a time-slot for your event!!

I will be posting the Pride Week Schedule soon. Keep an eye out for it!

The dates listed here are still very flexible. If you are interested in helping with one of these events, you can either volunteer with a post here, or you can IM me in-world.

Hi Euterpe - Excellent! I assume that you are coordinating the calendar with Olmy and StoneSelf, right? If not, we should probably get everyone in sync.

Also, Cristiano has provided us with Web space, on SLUniverse.com, where we can post our pride calendar and any overview-type content. If the calendar you just posted is close to being final, I'll go ahead and post that data on SLUniverse this afternoon. Let me know, if not.

Also, I would like to host one goofball event, myself: Gay foosball @ the Boyz Cellar on the 20th, evening/PM or on the 25th afternoon/PM. Let me know where it best fits into the overall schedule.

Put me down for hosting Queer Primtionary. I'll do it a couple times in the week. I'm busy the night of 6/22 and during the weekend, but can do it any other evening and potentially some daytimes. Use me as a fill-in for empty spots.

I would like to take advantage of Christiano's kind, kind offer. The schedule, at the moment, is very 'theoretical'--we need to find event hosts/judges. However, I would be happy to give you the schedule, as it stands, and we can adjust it as we go. Optimally, we are aiming for a complete schedule by Friday afternoon.

Hmmm, it looks like somebody else started editing the SLUniverse page. Thus, I'm afraid that we may have too many cooks in the kitchen. I will back out and let whomever else has admin access take care of the Web page updates. I'd hate to see us overwrite eachother's changes.

No worries. I was trying to track down Olmy for content/dates, which is why the page sat idle for so long. I'll try to work on it this evening. Did we decide to go with Eggy's artwork? If so, can we get a copy of the image file?

i'd talk to Olmy about those details.

I hope that morning and evening are decided as many of SL people are in diff time zones... I myself are in Europe and probably most people (so far) in SL are from USA...

We are trying to be sensitive to world time zones, as much as possible. Events, thus far, are, I must admit, a bit American-centric. Please have that alarm clock at the ready.

Now, if a lovely person, such as yourself, would care to volunteer to host an event--you would get to choose which time worked best for you. <hint, hint>

Exactly! I tried in vain to get some EMEA folk to host events at the Boyz Cellar, back in the day. Not a one ever came through. So, if you want Euro-friendly events, host 'em!!

I have a question, though. Many of the "events" on your list refer to logistical and/or setup tasks. I kind of think we may want to list only the actual participatory/public/fun events on the Web site. What do you think?

Yes, Paolo, you are very correct about needing/posting a schedule that does not contain my nutty logistical notes. To that end, I am posting the SL Pride Week Events Schedule here, as well.

Catherine Linden has asked if any residents would like to share their personal stories about Pride in SL. She is looking for people for whom Pride in SL is their only Pride, like for those who live far from a city that has its own Pride celebration. Also, people who might not be out in RL but are in SL. If GLBT Pride in SL has had a big impact on you for whatever reason, please contact Catherine and let her know. She is definitely looking for people who would be willing to talk to the media, though I don't know if that requires disclosing any RL information.

We now have the 6 racing sims and are setting them up for the parade today. IM StoneSelf Karuna if you want to be in the parade. We'll have two editions, one at the Euro-friendly time of 1pm, another at 6pm. Viewers should stay in the 3 southern sims (there are bleachers to sit on) to allow the parade to move freely through the 3 northern sims.
