I'm debating on trying this out and I was hoping that someone could give me some information about some of the regular events in this game/community.
Thanks in advance.

I'm debating on trying this out and I was hoping that someone could give me some information about some of the regular events in this game/community. Thanks in advance. Sorry that no one answered you yet. I was reluctant to do it myself, since as an event host, this could almost too easily turn into a rant. But I'll try to restrain myself. ![]() All right, most days you'll find that events in SL fall into about three categories: 1) Tringo/slingo/gambling games. Put your own money up and compete with other players to win the pot. 2) Beauty/avatar/sit-in-my-club-for-an-hour contests. Go to a club, get people to vote for you, win a prize. Those are fun for many. And then, occasionally, you might see an example of the third, rarest category of SL events... 3) Anything else. Event category #3 is where you have some more possibilities. I host Primtionary myself, which is like Pictionary, only people build their clues out of prims. Trimming Hedges' Captions is also pretty fun. There are others like the giant snail races (about as bizarre as it sounds), show and tell, archery/fencing contests, building contests, and basically an infinite variety of fun and interesting stuff. Unfortunately, most of these events have to be paid for out of the event hosts' pocket and aren't designed to make any money back, they're just for fun. This means it's very expensive to have them very often, so non-club and non-gambling events are quite rare. There are also educational events, perhaps a fourth category, but these too are very rare. So, if you like gambling/competing or the club scene, there's plenty for you in SL. If you're looking for something else, it's probably here, you just have to really look for it... or possibly dig into your own pockets and host it yourself. Hopefully you find something you like! |

I'm not sure why you responding would cause a flame but thanks for responding.

Sorry for the shameless plug - but there's also a game show at the Shelter called "Payment Podium" every Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday at 7PM game time.
Its similar to who wants to be a millionaire, and a lot of fun ![]() |

Remember too, Antonio, that you can try the place for free for 7 days. Once you get in-world you'll probably see that there's much more to check out, even just in terms of events, than we could possibly describe here. Parties, weddings, classes, nightclubs of all different types, cybersex, intellectual discussions, games, cute little choo-choo trains, planes to fly around in, stuff to build, stuff to take apart, people to meet, really amazing versions of all of the above, architectural marvels, architectural yawns, funny little furries, funny big furries, nice stuff, ugly stuff, you name it.

welcome!

as a general rule, anybody is welcome to any event, providing you stick around for at least 5 minutes so the land owner can generate 'dwell' which is a great idea I would say!
'private' events may take place in areas designated for members of a particular group and would, most likely, be obviously private. so search the listings to see what sounds like fun and crash every party! some people may appear to be stand-offish but it's probably because they are IMing friends and may not see that you have said hello. _____________________
