Robin I have to acknowledge you for your wonderful generosity of knowlege
and helpfulness.

You prob already have this info in your tutorials, but I am posting it here anyway for those who like to skip to the good parts.

So I was in the Renderosity free stuff section, (another tip) choose "bryce"
from the drop down menu, and there is a ton of free stuff for bryce in there.
I must have downloaded a couple of hundred Mb of stuff and not knowing exactly how to install things, I started extracting things into my bryce 5.5
content folder. Then I noticed that things were not showing up in the program
nor was it working to just try to import the file in question.

The prob was that these were obp. files I do not know exactly what their
purpose is, however I did find out how to install them.

Important for it appears that many of these content downloads are in this
format.

Open up bryce, go to Create, there is a little tiny triangle just to the right,
click that.

This brings you to the object presets. Click on imports, browse to find your
extracted file and open it up.

You should see your new object in a little picture on the objects preset
palette.

Now you can just click the pic and then the checkmark and your on your way.

I hope this helps someone. ;)

P.S. Dont worry the tutorial I found was written for 5.0, and it can be found

here.http://art4all-all4art.com/News/article/sid=23.html

Thanks, Infiniview. I'm glad that you are enjoying them.

The .obp files are Bryce objects, created or textured in Bryce.

There are rumors that Bryce 6 will include ways to export things created inside Bryce, using Bryce primitives; but until then, the .obp format is the only way to do it, and it only works with Bryce.

I'm not sure what the letters stand for. Could be Object Bryce Presets, but I'm making that up. :D If it helps you remember what those files are, though, go ahead and use it.

I briefly mention how to install an .obp file here. And I instruct students to load .obp files off and on after that. But I don't go into a great deal of detail about it; not like the link you found. :D

They go into the Objects folder in the Presets section of your Bryce folder by the way (not the Content folder.) You can just put them in there, in a folder called Downloads or something; but if you do, each one will show up as its own sub-category, so you'll only get 14 in the Category. It's more work, but it's probably better to Import them one at a time.

If you're backing them up, though, you can just grab the .obp file in the Presets > Object folder that has the name of the category you want to back up, since there can be a bunch of actual objects in an .obp file.

If you want to see more about using presets, there's stuff at the bottom of this page.

Hope this helps.
