So uh, what happened to SLTV? I haven't seen it advertised anywhere, nor have I heard of any content. It's like it was swept under the rug.
Wasn't it a big deal?
What's going on with it?

Yeah, so big of a deal that it needs an actual paid stuff for it to be run. I'm hardly surprised there's been no news.

Reuben responded in this thread, when I inquired this a few weeks ago.
After a couple months of experiments with SLTV, we've decided to suspend the service for now. Like many early experiments, SLTV taught us a lot, mainly about how challenging it is to produce high-quality live SL-video streams on a daily basis. Going forward, we will continue to advocate and support experiments in live broadcasts and machinima, as we see this as a very exciting and promising area. As for the correlation between live video and signups, it was and always will be hard to accurately correlate features with signup rates. What is undeniable is that people are more likely to be interested in joining Second Life when they have a chance to see it in action; something SLTV accomplished well. In the future, we'll continue to experiment with ways to acheive that effect for prospective customers. Oh well, my runner up SLTV proposal, proposed de-emphasizing the live feed and provided a platform for SL residents to upload machinima that could be broadcasted on an on-demand basis. I still like my idea. _____________________

Hummm intresting... I wonder why I had never heard anything more about it (even though I was told I'd be updated on this.) I think if they would be willing to keep a server open for streaming that residents could test on (with LL approval) open there might be a fairly large improvement. Truly the BIGGEST thing they could have done was provide a Quicktime streaming server for use.
Corse this thinking may screw them up worse ![]() - Sam (I didnt even place with my proposal, but I still wanna give it a try ![]() _____________________

My question - the announcement was made on the 20th.
Was SLTV ever broadcasting at all? _____________________

SLTV used to show stuff. There was the SuperFox Show for one that was on Monday-Friday at 4pm SLT. I remember them following us around once while Hamlet gave a tour of Burning Life. I also saw some Frogg Marlow shows on SLTV as well.
