Chances are those who have been around for more than a few months, have a fairly good idea how to make their own stuff.
I'm not going to claim that the clothes I've made for myself are as good as the ones by some of the artists and creators in this thread, but on the other hand, no-one else can have the same clothes as me because they aren't for sale, and I like that more than the quality.
I suspect a lot of people like to get kitted out then leave it at that.
The stastics posted here will only be meaningful if someone posts statistics of the number of SL residents in each age bracket to compare though.

Half my customers are over a year old. Okay I'm making that up; but I know I see older names in my account history as often as new ones. Very old people wander through the garden and buy one or two things occassionally. It keeps me stoked for building new products once in a while.
Then again, trees and flowers are odd items. They only sell from specialized garden locations as copies off the landscape, not from malls or vendors, and not seasonally which is odd but true. Maybe it's because the trees reflect any season but I always find it odd that people buy azaleas and palm trees in Winter then Christmas trees in March.
Stay on topic (that's my Red Leader 4 quote for the day), it must depend on how often new items are introduced to a product line more than anything. I think.
