So, from what I've read here and what I've heard in-world, it seems like it is at least time to rethink VERTU, if not to retire it. Who from the original group is still around and interested? (I'd like to start the exploration by seeing how many of the old folks are still around and interested before we look at recruiting new folks.)
I think we definately either need to retool it or retire it... both of which have their appeal to me, at least! (I hate to think of it dying out, but on the other hand, it sure was a lot of work!) What do you guys think? _____________________

I'm still around... but my computer is borked. I can only access SL infrequently, using my gf's laptop. If you need my help though, I will gladly make the trip to her place
I still have a copy of the old Bhodi Tree Gallery in my inventory And the "Art Will Prevail" gun! _____________________

I have a suggestion. There are several annual fund-raising events that occur inworld for specific charities, as well as unique disaster events that everyone rallies around for a few days or weeks. VERTU might consider operating to steadily collect funds and then make unbrella contributions other efforts. All VERTU transactions would be contained inworld and monies would be available to tap for emergencies and to help seed activites for specific organizations. I've accumulated extra lindens, or odd bits of land, et cetera over the past year and my first thought has always been to contribute it to VERTU. The name is well known and trusted. It Seems a shame to just let it go. Ha ha ha I just previewed the word unbrella. Fallingwater has infected my brain! _____________________

I'll be back as of tomorrow, Tuesday the 8th... I get my laptop back and will have decent access! I've been getting on at about 2 fps on my client on a 13" blurry old CRT monitor... not very much fun!

I was thinking about maybe something like the "unbrella" idea, actually! <grin> Perhaps the most useful thing for VERTU would be to morph itself into kind of SL's version of the United Way but with a focus on providing security and accountability in world fundraising activities and offering to allow groups to join as program components so that they can share 501c3 status without having to file on their own.
Hmmm... let me do some checking with the attorney who sits on my RL board. I have an idea, and he'll know whether or not it's feasable... Sarah _____________________
