John Aschcroft supports boobies! (interpret that as you wish)

Actually he was so annoyed by that statue that he had a backdrop put up, so he didn't have to remove it but it still wasn't seen. Of course it cost a couple thousand I believe....don't remeber exactly.

A Chilling Warning for Today's Internet
10-09-2005 10:32
First they came for the Suicide Girls,
I did not speak out because I was not a Suicide Girl.

When they came for the macro-furry vores,
I did not speak out because I was not a macro-furry vore.

When they came for the anorexia fetishists,
I did not speak out because I was not an anorexia fetishist.

When they came for the scat video enthusiasts,
I did not speak out because I was not a scat video enthusiast.

And when they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out,
because they were all masturbating to Small Wonder erotic fanfic.

The message is clear. Let's wait just a little longer before we speak out.

I think the government is erring on the side of caution when it comes to what they term as obscenity. In my opinion, such items as they defined as obscene don't seem as main stream in the physical world and can therefore be more easily targeted.

Where I see a problem is that they defined those activities as obscene for a wide population of individuals. The supreme court ruling on obscenity let's the local courts and communities decide what is and isn't obcene for themselves. But when it comes to the internet, how do you define such a thing with a place where geographic location has little to no meaning?

The idea behind going after furry-related things is simple. The law refers to "bestiality", which usually is interpreted to mean sexual relations between human and animal, but you see how this may be misapplied to mean anything regarding beasts whatsoever, including the nonsexual themes of PG furry areas.

Well, if they did that, they'd have to go after Tony the Tiger and Mickey Mouse. Granted, it was the 'religious right' who got Disney to stop making "talking animal movies", that was political pressure, not legal. I don't think there's much of a case for going after PG content.

I agree. I see no way whatsoever PG furry content could be targeted in the way proposed in this thread.

Shakes head in disgust, Its sad that the "American" people are so blind and clouded in thier judgement of what our leadership here is doing. There are so many prime examples that its unreal. One of the sadest of all is the Save the OWL types that petition to governments to "Save the OWL" well guess what people that Spotted Owl is costing you .60 cents on the gallon at the Gas Pump. So many bureacratic underhanded bullshit schemes to rape the American Public of thier Funds and thier freedoms. I didnt vote for the regiem that we currently have in office so why am I being held accountable for thier ruthless tatics to rape my wallet and give to the Rich.

Shakes head and walks out of thread

If they can come after legal adults posing nude, they can most certainly come after erotic drawings.
I don't think they can. No one is hurt when someone draws a picture.

No one is hurt when legal adults view other legal adults being naked, either.

But the FBI says otherwise.

Remember, kids, Uncle Sam says "Missionary OR ELSE!"

Nope, sorry. I can draw all the underage/bestiality/snuff porn I want and the FBI cannot do a single thing about it.

If they're going after previously legal naked pictures of grown adults, what makes you think hypothetically drawn child porn is going to be protected?

If that were true, the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund wouldn't be so busy all the time.

The stories in question, according to the website’s announcements, include no images or videos, but describe acts of bestiality, urination, scat, BDSM, slavery, threesomes, orgies and sex with children.

If text is ruled obscene, SL is doomed.

All it'll take is for this to get challenged in court, and it'll stop dead in its tracks. You can't flaunt free speech like this.

Of course, billions of dollars has to be lost first.

SL isn't exempt from this, btw.

LF

You sure LF? I mean, the adminstration that has passed this bill also has now been able to institute two of its own choices into the Supreme Court. I wouldn't feel as secure about laws not making past courts anymore.

People aren't necessarily hurt by printed words on a page either, yet book censorship is still real and prevalent in today's world, in the United States, no less.

How much evidence of the totalitarian regime the US has become has to build up before the populace actually notices that they are living under it? :p

If done gradually they may never notice! So long as bigger than life heroes defend America's values of freedom in Hollywood movies, it'll work.
