Is it just me, or can some people use a 101 in Business Etiquette?

In all of my time that I have played Second Life, going on to almost a year now, I have never experienced such poor business etiquette. And sad to say not once but TWICE by the same.

My first experience, I can say was probably due to it being a new idea in SL so there were still kinks to work out. Frustration, disappointment and many other thoughts can come to mind but the outcome of having a beautiful baby boy in the end had me put those thoughts to the side.

Five months later, my husband and I decided to bring a baby girl into our family. Skeptical at first, I went to check out the "improvements" made at this "clinic". Read all the notecards, reviewed their new policies and it looked like they had organized themselves better. But we all know that saying, "looks can be deceiving".

I IM'd the owner of the business asking him what I needed to do, and was advised to IM his assistant to make an appointment. Well, I did that and sent the necessary notecards back, which were received. Three days later, never heard from them, not even during their "business hours" (and yes, the assistant was on because I tried speaking with her and heard nothing back). My husband, spoke with the owner of the business and explained to him what was going on. Finally, we received an appointment date and I sent them, again, the necessary notecards and all that they needed.

Appointment day comes, the owner is 1/2 hour late. Which is understandable, after all real life does come first. I was told I would have my son and my new daughter to me "shortly". Well, I didn't hear from them and assumed they were taking care of what was needed for MY appointment. Four and 1/2 hours later, after hearing nothing, I tried to IM them, only to find out that they had JUST logged. Never spoke a word to me to let me know what was going on, never IM'd me just to say "i'm still working on it, sorry for the delay" .... nothing. Upset and disappointed, I left an "offline" stating that I no longer wanted to deal with him and to send me back my son, and to forget the second half of my request. I logged for the night. The next morning, I came on to my son back in my inventory, with NO upgrade. GOOD THING I DIDN'T PAY YET, the first time he requested payment up front and took a MONTH longer than the appointment date.

And then, tried to lie to my husband about the conversation I had with him. *I have saved notecards of all convos - feel free to ask for them* Guess what he didn't realize is that my husband and I are together RL and play SL together as well.

To end all this "venting", just a warning to all others. Be wary of who you deal with when you are investing time and hard earned money into something. And to all business owners, I know we all don't act this way and take our businesses seriously. *huggz* to those that do care about how to make SL businesses a FUN experience for both sides.

There's so much in this story I find concerning.

oh an here's a little P.S. to all of this, as I was surfing the forums I found an interesting discussion thread created by Jim Levy who posted that he made this baby script for the sole purpose of creating babies and not reselling the script. Well guess who is the creater of the script in the baby that I have? Hmmmm Jim if you read this IM me, would love to find out what you are doing to try to stop this. A stolen script to make money?

Well, I'm not quite sure where to start, I think your post says it all quite well.

I do have one serious question though, which relates to copying ideas. Are these babies sold in boxes?

My first one was sent in a "box" designed as a crib. This one I didn't bother 2 wait on because of past experience. Just made me lose total trust.

OK in all fairness YES I think the 'having kids' thing here in SL is a new and not widespread practice at this point.

Sheesh I have 3 of my own and run a daycare, last thing I want is SL kids ack. But I would LOOOOVE to be able to box 'em all up and stuff them in the closet for a time in RL that is.

But 'Babies/children' in SL are a budding business and I know the OP was just commenting on her unhappiness w/ a business/product in SL. Sorry to hear about it

You people can be so fucking mean. Different people role play in different ways. A prim baby isn't any more idiotic than a shinyass fake robot made by some pudgy virgin.


I think I know who you are talking about, and yes there have been a lot of complaints about this person in SL from people who are having prim babies. The best thing people can do if they don't like something is to not purchase. The thing is as much as people complain, they still keep going back to this person so the person has to be doing something right. I am sorry you had this experience.

oh dear! Sierra, give my dear friend Misty Rhodes an IM. Her and her partner (Reve Monde) have twins now! hehe.. They adore them and Misty's nursery was shown in the lobby at the SLCC. It was too cute!
