actually in most cases ( to get back ot topic) i would think a RL trustee would handle such matters asto a persons account with LL. I think at that point once LL is notified properly by authorized parties the account should be froze so there is no confusion later given the scenario of another household member accessing the account and going in world and really stirring things up. It would be nice if LL would work with ppl in the event of someones demise because in the end it could all be hearsay coming from a second source.

Its kinda morbid, but how many of us have had that conversation with ppl we have grown close to online? Some of my closest friends go back years in chat, sure its sad, but not knowing why someone you cared about suddenly dissappeared is sadder. My real family know who to contact, because to me, it matters.
That said, Crank up the music and chill the vodka.. I expect the biggest goddamn party the moovers and BWA groups have ever seen ... and may they remember the goodtimes with laughter and joy that we had the pleasure of meeting and knowing each other :)
Cheers!

I know this isn't really the OP point but......

I have had one friend in SL that passed a few months back. I decided to keep his name in my list just cuz then as I scrolled through them, I'd spend a moment of my time thinking about him.

A grimer instance, and I appologize in advance....

I spent about 4 yrs in a yahoo chat room that was a pretty tight knit group. One young man, who was also quite troubled by many issues, decided to get on web cam w/ his in-room love interest and ended his own life while she watched. Sad sad shit :(

I also have kept his name on my Yahoo friends list just to remember him as well.

I have had people die in TSO. And one who had gone on to play There. It generally gets around the grapevine, as long as at least one person knows.

In my group which met online and has met irl each year for seven years now, three have died. Sad to say, but one of them was the only person I actually knew from rl, and she was my oldest friend irl. I had known her since 3rd grade. When she died suddenly, it was one of those points in life where your whole life suddenly enters a new era. She wasn't my best friend over all others, or anything, and we didn't talk daily or any of that (we lived a long way apart as adults), but she was my OLDEST friend. She had been "with" me my whole life. That was very traumatic for me; still is. Not as bad as some deaths have been for me, but still, pretty bad.

Course in the case of that online group, we all have each others' real names and addresses. But come to think of it, it probably isn't enough to make sure my family knows who to tell if I should ever die (which is NOT in my plans, so it isn't going to happen anyway). It's also probably a good idea to make sure those you really care about online know you would like them to let their families know to contact you, should anything happen to them. I can think of people I would be pretty devastated should they just disappear one day, with no explanation.

In fact, that did happen once before. We weren't all that close, and I wasn't totally devastated, but I did wait and wait and wait. Finally, I looked him up on Google (I had enough rl facts), to discover that he was indeed alive and well. He'd just poofed from the game, is all, and didn't bother to let anyone know he was going to.

When I die, I have no contingency plans. Eventually a relative will cancel the credit card, and the things I have signed up for (SL, DSL, and anything else I can think of with the same letters) will probably terminate my accounts post necro. (Or is it post morte?)

When I decend into the firey gates of hell itself I will type my will and close my account to join the gang for shooters out of a prim's bellybutton,

in other words you all wont know i'm gone, as long as the afterlife has internet connection, and wireless for my laptop,

C'est macabre! :O

I'm still waiting for the Second Death spinoff too...

With sims like Necropia, Styx, and Morte.

That is an amazingly great idea, lol. The funny thing is you can actually make a Second Death in Second Life. In fact I think some talented people have already done the vampire version of death in Second Life. :D Would be fun to see if anyone makes something like you suggest..
