In responce to many forum threads of the past year. About 10 months ago people complained about all the events filling up with club post. Responce, LL takes away bonus for event hosting. Soon after the forums explode with the whines of Tringo games filling the event post. Geez there is even an "Anti-Tringo" group. Tringo is now dying off now. Movies start to show up, Event forums fire up with complaints of abuse. Now LL says a hosted movie is not an event and cant be posted as such. Mind you, its ok to post a "Yard Sale". So now people have resorted to the most simple of solutions. Just pay people to sit and do nothing. Heck why not, run a dance party and people complain, play a game (Tringo, SL-Ingo or whatever) and people complain, show a movie and people complain. Pay you to sit on your a$$ and do nothing and people complain. I wonder if the masses didn't like dances, tringo or movies then why do so many people go to them? Why do these activities fill full of SL members daily? Members that pay to play like everyone else. Why should the people hosting popular events stop because a handfull of the forum elite dont like them? Gawd STOP THE TRINGO people may just be enjoying themself to darn much. I think I have the answer. While some enjoy the socializing of a dance party, the fun of a game or maybe relaxing with a good movie. It appears that others find there enjoyment complaining about it. Now Im sure that many will be tempted to rip me up here, I mean how dare me look at SL as a place for fun. Befor you do try to understand my point here. Do we not all have enough real life drama without corrupting are metaverse with real life BS? I dont know, I guess I still have a soft spot for those of you that let SL dig at you so hard. So hard that you feel you need to say and do the meanest things to others. Take a minute to remember some of the hatefull things that have been said about others in here. Try to remember that "Real People" sit behind the keyboard. Its a person with feelings (not me of course) that is often attacked. Ok with all that said, Let me have it.

It's not terribly P.C. I know, but a well placed 'fuck right off' can do wonders!
Some ppl like tringo - others don't (I'm one of the don't crowd) - but there will ALWAYS be a crowd of ppl that want you do do it 'their way'.
Have a look around - they're everywhere -- theres a certain player who doesn't post here anymore that calls everyone that doesn't think the world should conform to THEIR vision names....
Its the same mentality - you just keep on keeping on with what makes you happy - so long as it doesn't mess with the TOS - and give the above answer to those that want you to play by 'their rules'.
Thats my take on it.. if you dig tringo - keep on tringoing.

Not sure why a "hosted" movie is not considered an event, I remember when in preview we went to watch movie clips and groups of us gathered to watch with excitement and anticipation. My only problem with movies is that I never seem to get to see a whole one it plays a section then seems to stop and repeat so I gave up.

I personally don't know nothing about no tringo or slingo but I do know that Events is a pathetic mess that needs to be cleaned up.

I totally agree with Blue. coco P.S. I've looked around some, and I don't see where it was said that showing a movie doesn't qualify as an event. Where did you see that?

I've got absolutely nothing against tringo - its a fun game. Kermit deserves every cent he's made! What I *do* have a problem with, and most people do, is spamming the events list to the point where its unusable and filled with non-events. Rather than whining, I just created my own version of the events list with stricter posting rules: http://SLBoutique.com/events/Is there any harm in that? Regards, -Flip

I don't care about tringo, slingo, or sexy thong events...I just want a better way to sort them - and appropriate posting rules enforced. The limited tools we have now are a good start. The beauty of a third-party event listing like SLBoutiques is that it is likely to be more responsive when you ask for additional sorting categories. Flip, can I get a sci-fi geek's event filter please?

What I *do* have a problem with, and most people do, is spamming the events list to the point where its unusable and filled with non-events. Rather than whining, I just created my own version of the events list with stricter posting rules: http://SLBoutique.com/events/ Is there any harm in that? Regards, -Flip No, as I said, it is a good thing, for several reasons. Where you and I disagree is on the definition of "event". What you consider to be a "non-event" others (like me) consider to be events we are interested in. In addition, most of what you consider "non-events" do have hosts present and alive (and required to be). We also disagree on the definition of "spamming." If people are posting events they are actually HOLDING, then those events are actually going on. They aren't bogus events. They are actual events which others - including me - will actually be present at, and enjoy. Therefore, to me, they are events. We also disagree about the events calendar being "unuseable." As I said before, I'm a pretty good reader, and when I am looking for Bingo or Blood21, I look under "contests" and I have no trouble at all finding Bingo or not finding it among the events. In fact, I could just put in "bingo" (and often do) to see if any come up in the search engine. More often, though, I will look at the whole list of contests - for the hours I'm going to be on - to see if there might be something else I might like. That is how I discovered Blood21. So we already have categories for the events and a search engine. Agreed, some people choose weird categories for their event, but that's not much skin off my teeth, either. It just means I'm less likely to discover their event. We also disagree about the value of posting about garage sales, though this is, for me, a minor quibble. I do consider these to be, for the most part, actual events (though not in the sense that there will be a host present, as a host isn't even needed), and I skim through them on a regular basis to see if there isn't something there I want to go see. And occasionally there is. And I enjoy going! The main point being - yes, I do want have things in the "commercial" category, and I do want to be able to peruse them. The events list could use some tweaking. For instance, no one - NO ONE - in all the times I have EVER looked, which are many - has used the category "pageants." We don't need that category, and - if I thought about it much - I could probably think of at least one other category that could be split and use that pageant spot. As I said earlier, it's good that you are providing this service, because it provides a service to those who never, ever want to see another -ingo or blood 21 or naked bootie contest in all their list-reading days. It's also good because it keeps those who don't want to have to look at these events less eager to rid the SL events lists of them, because I DO want to see all these events (that you call non-events). Having to scan through all the naked bootie contests - which I would never in my entire life be interested in - is a negligable price to pay for being able to see everything else that is going on. Having the forum you are going to have also provides an additional way for people to advertise, and make known to interested others, those truly unique events which otherwise might not get noticed, as you say, by the casual SL events calendar reader. And that, too, is good. It provides a way to give extra exposure to really special events (and just quirky ones, etc.), and probably a good place to discuss them, too, assuming you're going to allow discussion as well. And I will be a reader of this forum of yours. As I say, it serves a niche - and the niche it will serve doesn't dis-include me. I'm interested in all the things you want the forum to include, too, and it will provide a nice place for them to get special attention. It's just that I'm ALSO interested in Slingo, garage sales, etc. Your having this forum really is an expression of the size of our world, and the nature of its various subgroups. The subgroup you and the forum represent is one I'm SUPER interested in. coco
