For the last couple of weeks, when I first log in, my avatar shape is slightly wrong. For example, my upper arms are very thick. To fix the problem, all I have to do is edit my appearanance and click on the "Torso" selection. I do not have have to change anything: just going into Torso edit mode seems to load the right shape. My avatar adjusts to the correct proportions and all is well. I have tried saving my shape with a new name. I made slight adjustments and saved. No matter what I try, when I first appear in-world, my shape is wrong - though only slightly so - just enough so that my jewlery doesn't fit and I look like I have been working out - something I would never do! Has anybody experienced this problem before and is there a way to fix it? It's not catestrophic, but I really hate having to edit my appearance all the time. Thanks, Persephone Milk

I had the same problem with my av intermittently for about 2 weeks. For some odd reason when I would log on I noticed that my arms got rather large and I had to go in and edit them back. It was like my av had been on some mega weightlifting program when I wasn't on. It still does it every once in a great while so I just deal with it. Not sure why it does it, and getting an answer back from LL why it does...never happened.

Thank you ZsuZsanna. At least I know that I am not the only one having this problem. It's a small penalty to pay to keep my figure I suppose Thanks for your response. Persephone Milk

Thanks, Persephone Milk I have this problem in RL but clicking on the Torso selection just does not seem to help. But I've been having it since the last upgrade in SL too. Thought it was just me and my saggy arms.

There was another thread about this...

And I did some experimenting...and fixed the problem... I had the same problem...and it always happened...seems if you start with anyshape other than the basic "Ruth" shape...you're arms are doomed. I actually went thru the pains of writing down every number on every slider...wore a "Ruth" shape and input all those numbers again. Now I don't EVER have that problem... So, all you avatar creators out there...keep that in mind.

I recall Munchflower Zaius had this problem and worked with the Lindens to get it resovled. You may want to ask her if there was an easy fix.

From: Lizbeth Marlowe I actually went thru the pains of writing down every number on every slider...wore a "Ruth" shape and input all those numbers again. Now I don't EVER have that problem... Ok, I finally went and did this for myself and it worked! I no longer have to edit my torso every time that I log into SL. This is very good because last night I discovered that even though I was doing this, and it appeared to fix my arms, it was only fixing them for me and anybody standing in front of me when I performed the procedure! I learned this when somebody sent me a picture they took of me, and I was shocked to see my arms were deformed since I had already gone through the ritual of fixing them and they looked fine to me. So, just a word of warning to anybody working around this problem by editing your appearance when you first enter SL: it works for you, but other people will mostly likely be seeing your deformed arms. You may want to bite the bullet and fix your problem once and for all. I can't believe that people didn't tell me about my arms all of this time

My upper arms are having the same problem again. What I didn't know was that even when I go in to torso and it looks like it fixes itself, others may not see it. I will have to check on that later. I guess I gotta go buy a fancy shape and hope it is mod so I can input all of my current settings, what a pain...

A friend had this problem before and I had her tell me all the setting numbers she used and I created her shape myself then gave her a copy (full rights of course).

Your lucky this doesnt happen ever time you log in. Sometimes pulling the avatar from server to client affects how or what changes were saved to your av, this has been around since i been in sl. Your best bet is to start a new shape and tailor it exactly to your own body specifics, write down #'s or let a person log in as you and just reshape your body for you. I do this for some people who lost their shape, I dont charge just try to help. If need any help contact me, and i can work with ya. Since its a simple body reshape, just need the numbers and we can rebuild ya from scratch. Its not hard plus its fun, only problem is that might take 15 mins to hour depends on how specific and exacts. Lemme know if need help be glad to help ya out!

How do you get a body shape without buying one? I looked around the other day and the only shapes I saw were $500 and up and none were mod. Someone gave me the one I have now when I first started. It is the only one I have, as they said to delete the default shape, and I have done extensive tweaking to it to get it just right.
Does anyone just have a generic shape they could give me and I can just redo it all heh.

Here is what I did to solve the problem:
I created a new notecard called "My Shape" and opened it for editing. I then edited my appearance, clicked on shape, and worked my way though each body section, carefully recording the numeric values for each slider. I didn't bother to record the body part name, just the major section like this:
Nose 20 50 35 12 10
I then found and activated the default "Ruth" shape in my inventory. Somebody suggested that this was the safest way to ensure that this problem never occurs again. I am not sure if this is true, and I may try this again creating my own shape from scratch (one downside to using Ruth is that I am not the creator, somebody named "Default Template" is).
After wearing Ruth, I then worked my way back through the sliders values resetting each to match my original shape. When I finished I saved my shape into a new item, and then made yet another backup - just in case I mess this one up. I deleted the shapes in my inventory with the problem to prevent me from inadvertantly using them in the future. And as a bonus, I have the notecard with the values as well.
The whole process took maybe 20 minutes. And my problems are completely fixed. I have been dealing with this daily for months and I am so glad to have it fixed. I didn't mind editing my appearance each time I logged in, but once I realized this wasn't impacting what other people saw - I just had to kill this problem for good.
Hope this helps.

I think you all need to take into account that about 3 weeks ago, that famous fast-prim-food chain, McLindens, started supersizing their portions. And as we all know, with McLindens, even the salad is faily prim-heavy. I think you should all cut down on the fast-prims, and you'll soon be back to your old lovable shapes. Of course, 20 minutes a day on the sliders won't hurt either
