From: Mulch Ennui so you are editing your logs?
and you run a casino and you were robbing people?
go on... I don't own any of the games inside the casino, nor made the scripts, you go on. And before I would post anything, I *would* edit them so other's information won't be public, like what they bet. And Mulch, I don't want to hear anything from you until Carlos speaks up and/or posts his logs. But at this point, I think they are pretty much useless, you just want keep stirring this touble.

Again I see one solution....the new code not be open source to anyone but esmay, the person who exploite dit in the first palce be ar'ed by all of us AND esmay for content theft, he be removed from the JEVN group, he never be trusted by her with any code again, and since he made so much from sales of this device, ALL memebers adn users of the group be rcouped by Carlos for potential losses incurred by his creation and sale of this device at 25k a whack.

From: Alondria LeFay Okay, just so that I have this clear in my head: - JEVN is a vendor product that is used by many, many, merchants in SL, and I would assume a large quantity of $L (hence $US) worth of transactions.
- JEVN has no authentication, security, encryption, or anything else to protect these merchant's assets
- JEVN's vendor servers can be compromised by knowing the servers UUID
- People are not concerned with the issue, thinking they can just "hide" the vendors from view and ignore the issue. Our of sight out of mind, except for the fact you don't need to see an object to get it's UUID. (although it is easier if you can)
- JEVN's creator was informed that their vendor was compromised, yet did not react to patch in a fix to this system
- JEVN's creator did not warn her customers of this flaw so they could at least minimalize their potential losses.
- I don't care about the rest of the drama.
Am I missing something, or is this accurate? That appears to be the gist of it I am so glad that after having purchased this system I reconsidered using it. Much better wasting 2k then using a product that the creator apparently didnt care enough to take the time to notify their customers they were at risk.

From: Mulch Ennui your turn nimrod
what date did this all start Carlos? Sorry Mulch, I'm not posting my logs. Too much casino transactions to edit out, plus, item transfers wouldn't be equal to the amount the cost. What do you even have to do with this conversation Mulch? A mediator? I guess Carlos would win, but that's not the point of this thread. I already stated... oh, say, at least 3 times that I admitted to taking items. (Edit: Plus on his logs, all I see is blank nothingness.)

Nimrod I just wanted to let you know that while I don't quite agree with your method of informing JEVN users of the problem I do appreacite the thought behind it. I can also understand Esmay's reasons for not telling us. I'm not happy about that nor do I agree with it but I do understand it. If Esmay had let us know there is a problem and that she was working on correcting it (by notecard if nothing else) then all the crap that went on in group ims would have been avoided. Esmay is human and made some mistakes. I don't and won't hold that against her. Especially if she fixes the problem with the system.
As for the emulator.... that is a whole other story. Anyone who creates something like this emulator knows full well what they are doing. If it had be created soley for the purpose of testing the system and only Emsay had the ONLY copy of the emulator then it would not have been a problem. Unfortunately the creator chose to give/sell it to others. The creator of the emulator is responsible for this whole mess. And I agree with Dmitri on the creator being made to compensate Esmay and the system owners not because I own one and could use the Ls but because it is the right thing to do. He created the damnable thing, he caused the mess, he should be the one to clean it up. Let the punishment fit the crime.

Game selling, personal wealth, and I do have a few games at the game stores around the grid (which are not *in* the casino). From: Mulch Ennui what casino is this anyway?
I won't say, but it's kind of obvious if you look at my profile. Plus I do not want to ruin my friend's reputation. From: Mulch Ennui i think I am lost, please help me understand why you are mad at Carlos
Where did I say that? If anyone, this is hurting Esmay.

i am just trying to clarify everyones positions No, private discussion is to take place through IM, which Jeksa has said before. I brought up the fact that there was an exploit in the system, not how much Carlos/I got from that. I'm not longer going to respond to this because you haven't anything wise, you're just jabbering.

Much better wasting 2k then using a product that the creator apparently didnt care enough to take the time to notify their customers they were at risk. That is the view I now have. When VISA or MC's card numbers are compromise, or when my bank even suspected some of their checking card number were compromised, we got letters in the mail within days. I like Esmay, and I liked the JEVN system. I've removed all items from my servers for now. I'm diappointed that Esmay didn't tell everyone and then immediately release a fix. Human error or neglect, it doesn't matter. No communication = bad business. Sorry Esmay.
