Here's to everyone switching their prims from Light to Full Bright (except for the things that are MEANT to be light emitting!)
good luck to ya!
let the marathon begin!!
p.s. thankfully, you can multi-select prims to set them back to wood, and flip the full bright checkbox on -- the checkbox is in the Textures tab

whats the difference? i thought scripted things and lights no longer cause lag in 1.7, and how do light objects emit light??? ive never seen them emit any light, all they do is get bright.
what do i do with my lamps? keep them light or make them full bright? and why?

turn on local lighting.. fullbright makes them 'bright' as they did if you set to light without local lighting on - only being more friendly to those who DO have local lighting on.

what do i do with my lamps? keep them light or make them full bright? and why? You've probably never seen them emit light because you don't have your local light option turned on ? ( Prefs/Graphics/Local Lighting )

also if you turned an object to 'light' that you used a tint on it casted a colored light that wasnt always desireable (with local lighthing on that is). Now with full bright that doesnt have to be a concern.

YES!!! I have officially turned all my boxes to full bright instead of lights. Here's to the hope of being in Midnight City soon with local lighting ON!

what do i do with my lamps? keep them light or make them full bright? and why? here's my non-techie understanding of this all: objects set to light cause the SL engine to try to plot out the path of that light and the impact it has on reflecting surfaces. Prior to 1.7 most vendor pictures (including mine) have been set to light so that people could see them clearly day or night. Thankfully, we no longer need to do this. All my prims are now full bright! Woot! I have not heard anyone say that objects set to "light" no longer create lag -- that wouldn't make sense to me because the engine is still having to do the work. So... if you just want something bright -- so that it shows up night or day -- then switch your prim to full bright. If you have something like a lamp that actually is supposed to emit light, make sure you have local lighting on and try both. And barnes' point is a good one -- you might not like the color that setting a prim to light casts on the surrounding area. (p.s. i haven't been online since the first hour when 1.7 opened. It came back down? chuckle)

The first thing I did was switch all my boxes to Full Bright. (and that was a LOT of boxes!) Hopefully I can no longer claim being the laggiest build in my sim.
