Today is payday and I don't seem to have my weekly pay at all. Anyone else notice this? My account is over a year old, so it's not affected by the pay nerf awhile back.

Its planned.

Unless you hand over USD $ cash money to LL you get nothing.

Don't sweat it.

That's utterly ridiculous. It's obvious you didn't even look. It's easier to find the post in the blogs than it is to find this thread in the forums.

But don't let me get in the way of your senseless moaning.

Thank you! :p

Mmooooaaaannnnn /rattle chain

On the other hand, a lot of people were complaining about not getting stripends, and none of them read the blog either ...

So where does that leave us? Maybe I'm not the only one who doesn't consider the blogs a valid way to find immediate important news?

And yet, most people dont think first of looking at a blog (which to me, a 40 yr old woman, means, "senseless ramblings by angsty teens) for information, which could be why they hadn't looked there first, but came here, to the community forums. She, (not a total noob btw judging by her join date, and not a forum troll or even someone who apparently posts to these forums very often) felt this was the right place to come for information regarding Second Life. Because this is the offical Second Life website, and the forums would be the first place anyone went to seek information, not some damn blog. Its were I came, and where I found the right answer, even if it was by being redirected to a blog, instead of having the answer or information just posted here, where it belongs.
To me, wondering where my own stipend went this week, this is a prime example of why closing these forums is a mistake.

Those who are able to adapt to change are not having a hard time with this.

Which is easier?

- Go to forum page
- Scroll down two pages to General Topics if you have psychic powers and know where the thread is
- Scroll down to the Pay Day thread which will usually be buried by egomaniacal bitchfests
- Jump forward a page or two to find a possible answer

OR

- Go to blog page
- Read.

OR ALTERNATELY

- Go to forum page
- Click Announcements
- Be directed to blog. Read.

It's not that the blog is the last place you would look - it's been announced ad nauseum that this is where updates are going to be. It's that you just simply refuse to look. You don't want to lose your precious grandstanding platform, so you cover your ears and scream really loud. When a Linden comes along to provide an answer (even though it is readily available in the blog), you pick on them. Not to mention a Linden who always goes above and beyond the call of duty to keep us informed, is always as helpful and as kind as possible.

There are plenty of things to gripe about. Complaining just for the sake of complaining, and making fun of someone who has done nothing wrong is just... well, typical of the egomaniac forum grandstanders.

But keep it up while you still have your audience.

Some posts are also typical of those who enjoy looking down on others and pointing out their flaws while claiming them to be the egomaniacal grandstanders.

But please, don't step down from your heights to wallow in the mud with lil ol me.

However, I would like to point out, I AM one of those that simply do not like or agree to the closing of the forums. I refuse to simply say to myself "Oh well, ladeeda". As long as these forums stay open, I will continue to state my objections to their closure.

Now, continue with your superiority.

ps I neither know nor care whether or not I got my stripend on time.

A) I most certainly was not picking on the "helpful Linden". If it weren't for the 'helpful Linden' I would probably still be wondering were the stipend was.

B) O yeah, over two and a half years and a whooping 64 posts... you can tell I'm a grandstander, huh?

C) Adapt or Die. Boy, someone oughta give that philosophical enlightenment to the Lindens.

  3. Read announcements (latest always on top)
Because you and I both know LL wouldn't put an announcement like that on general. There no need for a blog, the forums are better tools.

I find it funny that the vast majority of those whining about how happy they are the forums are being deleted because the forums are just a source of,

and choose any one of the following here,

whining,
bitching,
flaming,
retardering etc

are the ones who, in the course of looking over their full forum posts, generally write the most argumentative, vitriolic and acerbic statements of anyone else. That's irony to me.

Then you should be happy to get rid of me, as the forums are closing. :)

Not so much. You're like a fly. Easy enough to squish with a newspaper without necessarily requiring the entire destruction of the universe. But I'm sure I'll find your embittered attitude in some other capacity, forum or not. Sad, hateful people often enough manage to resist attempts to push them out.

I find the blog in an RSS feed way easier.

I wouldn't know where to start with one of those... what does an RSS eat anyway?

I find the easiest thing is:

1) Subscribe to blog's rss feed using a decent news aggregator.
2) there is no 2.

Then, minutes after LL publish an announcement, it just appears. On your screen. By magic. For me, it pops up in a little window above my system clock... but that depends totally on what feed reader you're using.

The point is, you don't have to go *anywhere*, or click anything... the news comes to you.

If you go chasing around web pages to read blogs, you're doing it wrong.

Neither did I till last week... but I did a google search for RSS reader, selected one, installed and was underway in minutes. Added bonus, now I'm up with lots of new products as well, I subscribed to a bunch of shopping blogs, and some interesting building related ones.

It's worth giving it a shot... as a web page you navigate to via your browser, blogs are kinda not so good, as an RSS feed, totally useful and quick.
