Hello Pan Fan, Who joined in July 2006.

Are you sure you didn't hear yourself on the other end of the line, becuase you sure are acting like your a little kid.

If you would even bother to read what is on the homepage of Ginkofinancial.com, you would have read:

From: someone
Got a problem? Maybe just a question? Want to talk to a real, live person? Call us! I've set up an experiment using a VoIP telephone carrier, to see how well this might work out.

+1-401-394-1982 Rhode Island
+1-866-512-3204 Toll-Free in the US

Call any time, you'll get me or one of the other techs -- the same people that would answer your in-world questions.

The software we're using is still highly experimental; I have no idea what the sound quality is going to be like. If you call, and it just keeps ringging for several minutes, chances are the software crashed, and you should just try again later.

I boldened the words that need to be, and underlined one.

Now, by the looks of it you called the number for no reason whatsoever and then promptly came here to complain that Hino invested his $30 and time to EXPERIMENT with this phone service. Then withdrew your money becuase
From: someone
With only 150K USD worth of deposits, how can they even afford a phone number? Ginko is about to go down, I just withdrew my money. Timmmmber.
.

Wha?

Since when does a toll-free line cost more than $150,000? They can actually cost as low as $5 a month. (See http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/0,4621,320246,00.html)

If we were a ponzi, which we are not, we would be far from colapse as total deposits stiil grow by a steady 10% a month.

This is my first post, but this comment caught my eye. Nicholas is absolutely right, so long as total deposits are increasing by 10% a month, the Ponzi will not collapse. That's the beauty of a Ponzi :-)

Hey, anyone want to start a bank with me? This looks like an absolutly great money maker! Especially since this is a game using play money, we don't have to worry about the law.

Does anyone know how to get a bank started? I bet we could siphen off hundreds of US $. I can pay for my college this way. No more begging parents for money.

My local bank IRL has it's total deposits increasing by about 5% a month... but how do we know it's not a Ponzi?

If the hallmark of a Ponzi is that it collapses when the withdrawls exceed deposits, ALL banks are Ponzi's...

Methinks the logic of the "it's a Ponzi because it's still growing" argument needs working on... :)

Hrm if Pan Fan is attacking Ginko it's in NO danger of collapse. lol

You know what's really funny? I was reading this thread and not paying attention to the names of the posters.. I kept seeing "Timberrr" and I was thinking to myself. "Gee that realy reminds me of RDB."

Then you mention that it was Pan Fan and it all made sense.

I think you misunderstood Nicholas. Growth doesn't mean Ponzi, but growth is necessary for a Ponzi to work.

That's why SL is a perfect environment to set one up. SL is exhibiting a great growth curve. And this is a game, so we don't have to prove what we are doing with the money (unlike real banks) or worry about auditors or anything. The feds can't touch us. And the current SL banks have already proved there are plenty of suckers who have no clue and think enormous returns are reasonable. Barnum was right.

This is a fantastic opportunity. I'm already working on some scripts. I studied this in class, so I know all sorts of ways to keep it going. This is going to be great! How does "The First Bank of Second Life" sound?

The service we're using is entirely VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), similar to Vonage (but a heck of a lot cheaper, and the customer service is a whole lot nicer). The 1-800 number itself costs me $4.95, and the equipment and service costs about $29.95, plus or minus a couple extra dollars for taxes and regulatory fees.

I run everything through a software PBX, which routes the calls to whoever is logged into the PBX (with a piece of SIP-compliant phone software, or even a hardware phone). The software right now runs on my home PC, until Cox Business Services FINALLY calls me up to install the new line to the house.

If anyone's interested in the even-more-boring specifics, I would be more than happy to talk about them.
