What we get, in the end:
> HUD attachments - SWEET! > Better Map - Yay! > Multi-Selec Inventory - Woot! > New IM layout - Not sure. > New Script Runtime Handling - Gift, Curse, Headache, Relief, all in one. > Full Bright - HELL YEAH! > New 'SHINY' - ..... I can't render shiny until I can get an AGP card, so.... > Much-Needed UI Tweaks - Heh.
What are you guys happy to see?

Multi-select is a very nice, combined with the new Open option for boxed items. It has been a long time coming, as it is such a basic UI concept that has been glaring in its absence. The new full bright is very dramatic, and a nice change since local lighting is teh horrible for most people. I think the changes to attachments will be the most interesting long term - it will enable all kinds of new attachments, which is exciting. I am happy about the update, I am just anxiously awaiting HTML, so I was disappointed it was not included.

Like every release, we will see threads that state: "1.x - a big disappointment" hours after release. With the body of the text stating that "1.(x-1)" was better/more stable/the best release evar.
Therefore, the final result is that SL 0.0 was the best release ever, meaning that these people would have preferred that SL never had been developed at all.

I'm not saying it'll be better/worse until the dust settles. I think tomorrow will be... interesting.

The bug fix list alone is impressive enough, at least 2 of my pet hates are fixed ... - camera zoom fixed ( hooray ! ) - can no longer move items in mouse look ( was that annoying or what ! ) I'm looking forward to tomorrows release with baited breath! ... now if only it would fix the enormous ping times I experience whenever there's 3000+ people online

The new script scheduler is an act of insanity, effectively privileging clueless socialites who complain about the lag they bring upon themselves to the detriment of people who actually need every little computing cycle the sims can spare. We should strive to advance second life knowledge and content quality, which cannot be achieved if LL continues to castrate developers to favor the "unwashed masses". Computers exist to run code, and the LSL VM already does a piss poor job of it. Hopefully we will get Mono in the next major release... three or four months from now :\

Do a bunch of people sitting playing tringo really care what the sim FPS is?

What are you guys happy to see? My Only questions are these: 1. Will the Teleporter system work like it did before 1.4? 2. Will the Lag be less like it was in 1.3? thank you

I'm looking forward to the end of prim drift and camera jerk. Better allocation of processor resource should help a lot too.

thank you That's the thing. We don't know. I'm presuming we'll have the same style of teleporting. Lag? Well. In theory, we'll have less... until people start adding more laggy crap.

From: Eggy Lippmann The new script scheduler is an act of insanity, ... I'm worried about this new system as well. Now it's pretty much impossible to tell what kind of performance impact a script has on a sim because the current debugging tools will always tell us the same thing. Instead of giving us more tools to help troubleshoot poor performance, LL has put yet another black box around it. Not a good idea.

From: Buster Peel I'm looking forward to the end of prim drift and camera jerk. Either I missed something or we're still gonna have prim drift... As for the clear cache button; is that a Mac thing? I've not looked into how the cache is stored on them. I mean, we still have to restart the client to do it so it's no better than having a batch file to do it, worse in fact since you'd have to run it and close it if you knew you wanted it cleared before you started.

Ahhhs! CLEAR CACHE is crossplatform, the actual cache folder is in different respective directories on PCs and Macs. I previously had a shortcut straight to my cache so I could knock it out easier than having to dig through many folders. However, this is mindful of integrating further simplicity in the system—less steps, better user experience! Many Resis have been inconvenienced by having to dig for the cache, previously, and "batch file" or other automation external to SL isn't as tight as having something from within. There are a number of variations on this theme—including the "XP Home hidden folders can't find it" one—but this just makes it way easier. BUTTON. CLICK. START SL AGAIN. WOOT. (I think there is a reason with having to restart the client, since SL streams live and there might be cache files in use when it's open.)

From: Torley Torgeson BUTTON. CLICK. START SL AGAIN. WOOT. As opposed to CLICK CLEAR CACHE ICON. CLICK SL ICON.? I see your point about some users not knowing how to clear it themselves (although we could have quite easily provided them with the scripts here). I just don't get why you're excited about it.

Now truely, I wish you had given me such a batch script to clear cache months ago... if you had provided it long before 1.7—I would have been all over it and helped with distro! I'm terribly excited about it because it's something so simple that's been missing for a long time. It fills such a big need.

I am disappointed with the script scheduling "feature."
I don't understand why so many people consider running scripts as "lag" when they have nothing to do with bandwidth.
Why not more texture controls or attachment limitations? Avatars and textures are the biggest source of "lag," are they not?
