Id like to think I'm good at handling my biz and creating win win situations with everyone involved.

Im very competitve and realize that others do not always play fair.

Since I've been on the most poplular places list its come to my attention that there are a few residents that will stop at nothing to slander your name or product in order to get a foot in the door. Personally, I would never do that and resent anyone who would.

I try to ignore the slander and when that does not work I feel I have to confront it. Can anyone say SHOOTING RAMPAGE

If this is your new marketing slogan, it needs some work.

Recognizing cheap shots - no pun intended - at your products is a good first step. No point in getting in an online shouting match, idiots will always shout longer. I myself am not especially familiar with the different types of guns in SL, but if someone has written reviews you could link to them, or other testimonials.

People are free to have any opinion they want about the relative value of your product compared to other merchants product. However when the other merchant sends people to stand in your shop when you arent on {and i have seen this at your place} and say to your customers that your weapons dont work and they should go buy weapons at so-n-so-s shop, well thats crossing the line. Banning the shill isnt much of a solution since they can always make another toon. Personally, i think if another shop owner continued in this kind of behavior, it would be time to gather the posse and kick his ass. Just my opinion.

Lil, we have had your "employees" coming into our shops yelling at people that our stuff sucks, and you say your play fair?!?!?!

Keep your chin up Lil...when i hear someone bad mouthing anyone it just makes me more determined to see for myself...and btw...Some of them are now my favorite designers.....your work will show through no matter what people say... hang in there...

If someone were deliberately going out of their way to consistently slander my good name and rep, yes I can say shooting rampage.

But, Lil, as long as your biz sticks to the top of the most popular places, then just show 'em the back of your arse and hold those dreds high, because it's apparent that your good business rep is stronger than their derogatory words.

I figure if someone has to slander your business or service or venue to get ahead, then their similar product must be crappola. It is one thing to illustrate your new product or features that may be better then your unnamed copetitor's, another entirely to say 'So-and-so's product blows'. Unless its a customer who has an unresolved problem, its pretty juvenile to smear someone's reputation out of jealousy and spite.

Consider the source & don't stoop to their level.

As silly as I may sound.. Im not even in the same race as these clowns. Im just having fun... Playing the game.

I imagine quality will out.

i have to agree here, it makes me think that they might have actually really good stuff, at least very interesting..

"Slander" means that people are lying, what about those of us you've slandered?

In my mind, badmouthing with -untruths- is not "fair game".

Offering an opinion is fine, as long as you're not pushing that opinion in people's faces with a vengeance. (Worse so, on the 'competitors' land.)

What I find kind of silly about the whole thing is: there are hundreds of thousands of people in SL. The prospect of becoming the "only" (whatever item) seller in SL may be alluring to some folks pocketbooks, but it's sort of a ridiculous endeavor.

Things in SL cost the equivalent of US$1-US$5 on average. It's not like buying a car. You can have a few of the same sort of item; most people do.

It's not like if you buy a shirt from one person, you'll never buy a shirt again, or you'll never buy from another vendor.

Same goes with swords/guns/avatars/vehicles, whatever. Nobody's going to set up a 'monopoly' on a certain market in SL. It's a trivial pursuit to even try.

I think some people just like to attack, though. If there's one thing I've learned in my 3 years in SL, is that there's a very high per-capita of pure assholes. Nasty people who are proud of it. A much higher concentration than I even see on the daily commute; and that's saying a lot.

I wish that wasn't the case. I still have faith in the SL residency, but honestly sometimes it feels like there's one decent person for every ten hateful ultra-aggressive hate-filled sociopaths in SL.

For the most part though, I don't think that's neccessarily SL's fault. It's just the nature of anonymity and the internet, and the ability to 'get away with it' without feeling like there's a real person on the other side of the transaction.

Nobodys lieing, it's simply our opinions. I expressed my opinion that I felt your guns were overpriced and that you were asking too much for them. I simply stated why use the name of a gun when it represents nothing like the item your selling, isn't that false advertising? It's like me selling you an orange and telling you it's an apple. If people buy your products great kudos for you but I simply choose not to, no one is lyeing they are simply explaining how you market products and what you sell, is there a problem informing the misinformed? I know I wouldn't want to buy a used car and be told it was new at a carlot.
