I too will be buying content creator accounts (or rights for their product lines) when people want to quit SL or close their business. I will take care of your stuff, and provide help for those who have the passion to learn and desire to become content creators in secondlife.

I'm no a legal expert of course, but I think this is the passage in question from the ToS:
From: someone

3.5 Unique Accounts; No Transfer. When an account is created the address on the account must match the address or other unique identifier on the credit card or other payment or identification method. You may register multiple accounts per credit card or other payment method but will only receive one trial period for the card or other payment method in any 3-month period and each additional account on one credit card or payment method will begin its billing when the account is created. You may not transfer your Account to any third party without the prior written consent of Linden.

So, in other words, if you sell your account without involving the Lindens, you'll be selling your credit card information!!! Whups!!!

Yes, I don't think LL is saying you can't sell or transfer your account as much as, you can not sell or transfer your account without informing them of the change so they can update their membership database.

On one hand I think its an excellent business move to increase inventory rapidly. On the other hand, I find it sad that some won't be happy until every last thing about this world is in their control. I guess everything has its price.

*gets another cup of coffee to see how this thread evolves.*

It's the dungeon for ye!

No, you cannot sell an SL account. Violate the TOS and risk that account that you paid good money for being banned? Not I.

Actually, it says it's only against the TOS unless you've got permission.

Which begs the question - what happens if you ask permission?

You may not transfer your Account to any third party without the prior written consent of Linden.

Thus spake the TOS.

So what happens if you ask for their written consent? Do they automatically refuse or is there some system for deciding if they give it or not?

As far as I know, it's an automatic refusal. I've never heard of LL allowing any account transfers.

Doesnt that mean you cant sell your AVIE/account, and that only. The TOS has no control over everything in your inventory, which is what most people are most intrested in anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Names are like brandnames in SL. Neph and Chip are prime examples of 'brand names' in SL. And names sell. Especially good ones.

This part i am confused about? You have to have written ok from LL? Wait I thought it was not allowed by the TOS? correct me if I am wrong................is this the special loop hole that allows people to sell their accounts. I like to know what reason why this would be allowed!? Any Lindens care to share this exception????

Maybe they left the permission part in there to play in extreme circumstances. If I were to die, I would hope they would allow my husband to take over my account, even if we were on seperate credit cards. Granted, this leaves a margin for scams, but I imagine they would attempt to verify the claim first. I think it's just left in there for a loophole, in case they do have a valid reason to allow it some day.

You don't have to buy an account, you can buy the content...all you need is the following:

The person who is making their exit needs to give YOU full perms copies of their items...and switch over all the stuff that they have, vendors need perms changed too, if they can be, otherwise the buyer will have to set up their own vendors.

That can work, and I don't think that is against TOS.

I think that was probably the intent of the offer that was going out this weekend. However, the addition of the actual avie cuts down on a lot of the headache in your solution, not to mention the storage space. The last thing anyone needs right now with the current asset system is more inventory in an already over crowded inventory. ;)

That said, I suppose the buyer could buy another 10 dollar alt to hold the line in, but again, another level of transfer and such....

I too will be buying content creator accounts (or rights for their product lines) when people want to quit SL or close their business.

Would these people be considered "Malcontent Creators"?
