Since LL has no backbone once again we all all booted from this game we all pay for because some lil pimple faced ass cant be a human and LL wont do a damn thing about it eh... where does LL's spine come into it? containing a self replicating object that overloads the grid has nothing to do with Spine in my opinion.. or do you mean they should throttle scripters abilitys to stop this happening altogether? Hey,, good time to clean out the computer and do a lil maintainance on it! Everybody,, scan disk, defrag, clear out temp files, get rid of the junk in the recycle bin...... just a lil suggestion

They should add an int to the replicated objects that counts how many times the object has been replicated. Then they could disallow replication beyond a number of steps, say 4.
1, 10, 100, 1000. So 1000 objects would be the max from one self-replicating object. Its not perfect, but it might be enough to keep the grid from crashing. Maybe also have the replicated object keep a list of the objects that created it? Then a linden can see what the root object is, then have a command to delete all the child objects. A throttle based on the number of times its been replicated would help too. Just my $0.02. |

Yes it sucks that we got kicked off. Yes it sucks that it might take hours. Yes it sucks that events will not be held. What sucks more is the Lindens having to deal with this AGAIN. Do you think THEY like spending their Friday night dealing with some arsewipe doing this to their systems? Not bloody likely. You think you feel the frustrations? What about them? They're the ones that have to listen to this rubbish. So, your Friday evening is in ruins? Do something else, find other outlets but FFS, stop yer bitchin! _____________________

Are there any minimum service levels that SL aspires to?
I've been playing this game for a while now, and the number of times the grid is down is getting a bit annoying. Do you Lindens have any goals for uptime and policies for refunds when you do not achive those goals? Sure, some bad person may have written yet another self-replicating object script, and I was sympathitic to your plight the first 4 or 5 times, but is there a point at which you admit that lack of access to the grid in prime time for your major customer base in the US might be annoying enough that you would contemplate something like...a refund? Think carefully, your answer will help us all decide if this is a game, or a platform, or a joke. |

Its not perfect, but it might be enough to keep the grid from crashing. was going to slightly second this... i don't know that i may cause some kinds of trouble with particle systems, but that should all be client-side anyways, and not server-related... hmmm, what good examples are there of object systems that truely need to excede, say, 1K, even -100- objects??? _____________________
