Reminds me of that 80's song..
IT'S RAINING YEN!!!! HALLELUJIA IT'S RAINING YEN.... AMEN! Actually the wording of it sorta unerves me - its not 'as needed' it's more 'as it can handle it' Then again - I'm trying very hard for a statement of 'We will never do this' that hasn't been renegged upon... seriously I'm trying _____________________

Terrifying. It's grab-yer-ankles time for those of us who have been counting on any amount of SL income to pay the bills. What a bunch of douchebags Linden Lab has turned out to be. ![]() edit: The transition from using L$ to another form of exchange isn't going to be fun. It'll be interesting to watch the market respond to this stupidity. In the meantime, I'm going to cash out for whatever rate I can get. Wow, those are pretty strong words from someone I consider to be a wise Capitalist. Perhaps the world should take note of these proposed changes. |

Hey, leave the furries out of this! ![]() So furries can't care about the economy? Self-loathing furry! *points and awes* ![]() Ok, not meaning to take this off-topic, so I will leave a legit comment. If LL does anything to help the economy, I think it should maybe be in the infrastructure of the game, not in directly manipulating currency. For instance, nixing dwell or stipends is modifying the infrastructure, not actually "taking Lindens" out of the exchange. Although adding/subtracting Lindens from the exchange matters not since it is not backed by anything... Ok, that may not make sense at all. If it doesn't, ignore it. ![]() MM EDIT: ZOMG I SAID GAME! _____________________

It's amazing how people are panicking.. Kinda funny in a way.
All we have is that statement. We have *NO* idea what they plan to do. Why the panic? Are they dumping huge sums on the LindeX right now? No. Did they say that's what they'll do? No. Did they say they wan't the L$ at 500/1? No. You are making yourselves look like *FOOLS*. Let's think this through, shall we? The L$ is currently in the 295-300 range. Though not unacceptable, LL has expressed a small concern. Therefore: The value of the L$ is just hovering above the red zone in LL's eyes. So doing anything to push it down would not be a good idea. So: It is very unlikely they are going to start dumping money on the LindeX for no good reason. They even state so: In other words, we will only sell L$ if we think the economy can absorb a new infusion of L$ because either other sources have been reduced or sinks have increased. What are the conditions for LL to sell L$? 1. Less Sources that can't keep up with the Sinks. or 2. More Sinks that outstrip the Sources. What does that tell us? A. This entry was put into the TOS in preparation for the future. B. They are lgoing to be adjusting/removing Sources. (They've already started) C. They are likely going to be adjusting/adding Sinks. D. This plan to sell L$ is in preparation, so they can cusion any sudden or unforeseen impacts of their changes. All of the chicken littles have been *SCREAMING* for B and C, and near picketing over the lack of D. Now they are in the position to provide all of that with the first step of A, and the chicken littles are crying DOOOOOOM again. Where's RBD? The Chicken Little party isn't complete without him. What we *DON'T* know yet: 1. What they plan to do. So wait. 2. What exchange rate they will be offering the L$ for. They may just sell at 250/1 when the majority of the market is at 275/1 just to cusion the market. Players would still be the best source of L$. 3. HOW they plan to sell it. It may not even be on the LindeX, and the sale may have conditions attached. So stop panicking until we actually KNOW what is going to happen. Crying foul now, only to see what they do come up with end up HELPING you, will only make you look like a complete idiot and hurt your reputation in the long run. |

blah blah It's not often you see a post that not only insults everyone that has shown a reasonable legitimate concern over a major change in LL policy, but also contains such a low info density. OK, maybe it's not so rare heh... _____________________

First of all, let me apologize for creating uncertainty. I made the announcement because I wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the change to the terms of service.
We won't be selling L$ immediately. But as you know, we are moving away from an economy where the source of L$ into the currency pool is solely through subsidies in the form of incentives and stipends. Having the ability in place to infuse L$ into the pool gives us another tool to respond to fluctuations in the L$ exchange rate. Clearly we will only use that tool in a way that doesn't result in hyperinflation, which is not only a problem for SL residents, but also for Linden Lab. When we have a specific plan to sell L$ we will make it available. Leading up to that point, we are going to be publishing a much broader array of statistics so that everyone will have a high degree of visibility into the growth of Second Life. These statistics will be made available at www.secondlife.com/community by clicking on Commerce on the left hand nav bar. _____________________

You are making yourselves look like *FOOLS*. A bigger *FOOL* is he/she who while foreseeing a worst case scenario, does nothing about it until it becomes a reality. People are expressing their concern. All that is warranted by LL is a clearer explanation as to their intentions. As it stands now, everything is quite blurry... ...and all the questions and possibilities in your own post only serve to confirm the lack of clarity regarding this matter. |

Before LL does actually sell the $L will they have a town hall meeting and answer questions and accept feedback before taking action? _____________________

First, let's get the facts straight:
-the linux client will make more communists. -removing furries will increase the value of the L$ -LL is transitioning to a gorean slave-trade based economy. -in 2007, to pay tier, you will have to hunt for food. -In a world where nothing is sacred, The hunter will become the hunted in a struggle for survival. We will learn a lesson about love at the end. |

Are we still allowed to grab Enabran's ankles? .. As the foot fetishists step up to take their rightful crown from the goths, furries, and goreans. Or is that rightful... sandal or something. I don't really know. Pol: Send me an email on what beautiful feet mean to you. |
