Its LL's fault for not keeping our private information safe. Why should we wait till monday?

I vote for them to work 24 hours this weekend, even if they have to hire more people to answer the phone, its their mistake, they should work on it, not us have to wait.

I KNOW all my security questions, but as my post in the link below states, I'm still screwed.

They should work until this is fixed, but not get any overtime pay, (by this, I mean every single screwed up thing that they can't be arsed to fix). They shouldn't really get any pay for the extra work at all!

eh? Those that will have to deal with the aftermath of this are probably nothing to do with the cause of it.

Oh they should ensure there is someone to sort this out over the weekend, I just think the 'np pay' thing is ridiculous. In these situations, if the boss has no volunteers, cannot convince someone to stay on, then he/she should 'man' the phones him/herself.

I don't trust no computer! Specially with stuff that is around money, so i usually put stuff that is WAY off track, and i tend to forget what i put lol

This is a "Widget" from yahoo.com, and its free
a widget adds stuff to your desktop and you can move them, interact and delete them, its kinda like objects that stand there. (very useful and make your desktop look cool)

Anyways, they have this "Password" thingy, it stores many passwords for many sites, so incase you have many passwords you just remenber one master one, and you will be able to view the rest. http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/view.php?widget=37342

I voted yes they should staff up over the weekend.
NOT because it's their fault, but because it's the right thing to do.

If it were your regular company, it would be dumb to not work on fixing problems! Mondays are hell and if you put it off Mondays will be even worse!!

If it were me, I'd have people who wanted to get paid overtime and had no plans this weekend helping out. Even if it is a few techs, it is still better than none.

I didn't vote because this sentiment is not reflected in the poll. It's called customer service and it's the right thing to do.

My sentiment isn't covered either. I didn't forgot my answer, secondlife.com forgot my question, and an alarming amount of others got the wrong question or no question too.

If they can't afford the overtime, well, I guess they can't afford the overtime. I've heard of worse customer support, I guess. But I'm certainly far from happy. :(

At least they didn't try to cover it up like some companies have in the past. :)

How can we have all the answers to life if we don't know the questions?

Well, the answer is 42. If you knew the question, so goes a theory, the universe would be replaced by something even more incomprehensible.

Heh. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I have a hard time being this generous. Having a two day lapse in between the incident and the announcement removed what could otherwise be a positive aspect in this scenario.

Despite what some people may think I feel with my stance on people taking responsibility for their own actions, LL should clearly be in the office this weekend helping to straighten things out.

I believe that this problem lies with Linden Labs to fix as soon as possible, overnite, over the weekend, whatever it takes to fix the security flaws with Second Life.

It is unforgivable to let 2 days go by before informing the residents that there is a situation that would jeopardize people's personal securities and investments within Second Life and outside of Second Life.

Things like this cast alot of doubt on if "worlds" like Second Life would be ANY kind of worthwhile investment now. Maybe contact the FBI on this one too? Yeah....riiighhhtt..tell us how successful the last one was <hears the cricket chirp>

It seems like everytime Linden Labs makes a bad decision, it's up to the residents to make it go away? SORRY! NOT THIS TIME! Your database, Your FAULT, YOU FIX IT!

If your computer crashes at 4:55pm on friday and the report you were working on for that meeting monday morning is suddenly gone..what do you do? You call home and tell the family you're staying late and you stay and get the job done.

If you work in a store and your shift ends at 7:00 and a customer walks through the door at 6:59 because you didn't happen to lock it yet (been there) what do you do? Tell the customer, I'm sorry, its time for me to go home you'll have to come back tomorow? No, you help the customer and go home half an hour later.

I absolutely believe in paying employees overtime, no one should be expected to volunteer for extra work with no benefit to themselves unless we're talking charity organizations. That said, I'm sure the LL offices are not empty right now. They wouldn't be able to function without keeping some sort of skeleton crew on the weekends and this weekend probably a larger crew.

What they've likely done is shut down only the customer service department for the weekend wich while it might be beneficial to their bottom line, is extremely inconsiderate towards their customers.

I thought they didn't have in-house tech support during weekends. If that's the case, I don't think they can do much about it. If your contract says you don't work weekends, you don't have to come. I would think it'd be really hard to convince people to do this, for such a low paying job as tech support.

Personally, I don't take calls from work at all during the weekend. If they tried to reach me they couldn't anyway.

What about the people from other countries in different time zones?

I can't imagine that a company running a 24/7 service really can only maintain it with M-F 9-5 staff. It just wouldn't work. Problems occur on weekends too, we've seen it. It simply makes better business sense and better financial sense to have a small staff whose hours include weekends. I'm sure that like most companies LL does this too, they just don't make that public info so that they can keep that weekend staff small and not have to include any customer service people.
