So I was on one of my exploring the map jaunts and went to visit the new sims of Ginko. I looked up and noticed it said "Paris Mall Out of Business." My roommate had pics up in the Lourve in South Paris so clicked on my landmark only to find the sim was gone. :(

I never spent a great deal of time in South Paris, but it was also the first sim I would show people who came over to my place to look at SL. It was usually one of the first places I took new residents when they selected me as their Greeter.

So many fond memories of this beatifully designed sim. I remember the day I got my new video card South Paris, more specifically the top of the Eiffel Tower, was the first place I went to test it out on 512 draw distance.

It will be missed.

Didnt know about it either, sadly it seems people tend to get out of exploration mode and go into bussiness mode, or hang out with friends mode or whatever.. i havent really gone anywhere in a good year, besides my land holdings and places iv gone to shoot video

I loved South Paris, I went there just the other day. I'll miss this amazing place as well. :(

I had a cafe there, based on the one in the movie Amelie :( when they announced they were going to redesign it for malls/condos/casinos, I ended my lease and closed...too sad the whole sim is gone now :(

Aw - I WENT to the Paris place, and explored around forever in circles in the mall part, that blue covered part, and never did find the Eiffel Tower!

I didn't realize it wasn't actually in the mall ("Come to the mall and see the Eiffel Tower," the advertising read). Cause my stupid DRAW DISTANCE has to be so low!! haha I really gotta get more memory.

So thank you for posting these pictures. Now I have finally seen that Eiffel Tower.

Sometimes people change the names of their islands or move them, or change their visibility while they work on something. Perhaps check with the island owners to see if maybe your favorite place is still there with a new name, or possibly renovating. :)

Yeah.. South Paris was an amazing build.. My friend Satu did the texturing for it, as well as some of the landscaping and even a beautiful horse sculpture for one of the fountains in front of the Louvre. You can see it on the left-hand triangle-fountain in Rick's pictures, but the zoom doesn't show much of the detial, unfortunately. If I can find my picture of it, I'll post it. A pity to see it go..

The fact that the ground on the sim looks green, when in fact the sim has been sand since the day I had it, is one of the reasons it is gone. The ground texture bug never went away.

The "ground texture bug" ? Could it be what my sim is suffering from ?

It's what everyone's sims are suffering from... mainland and Island both...

There are very few sims, island or mainland, estate or split-plot, that completely escape it, though some are worse offenders than others (Cass is supposed to be Green, though it shows bare bedrock about 2 days out of 3. Blech!).

The only land I know of that hasn't ever experienced this, according to my neighbors in this sim, is Sabulella. IT is always coral rocky island.... I recently sold my land there, and have some remorse regarding it... though the deal helped a friend launch his own business, and helped me consolidate land in Cass.

Rocky Coral Isle
This land can bug too, Mine is a mix of blue. yellow and stone rocky coral and sometimes it becomes sold blue rocky coral. Not so bad, but not as nice as when it is all mixed and has gradients.

As the chief architect of the Paris sims, and also the builder of the skyscraper that once stood at Gold Coast, I had been hit the hardest emotionally (aside from the 7k prims I found in my lost and found folder).

I really enjoyed the time I spent on the sims, and I hope others enjoyed my builds. Hopefully, I can find a new home to redeploy some of these builds elsewhere. Maybe it might live on in another project...

My last photos of me and the tower...

GET OFF THE LEDGE PEOPLE! ITS NOT WORTH IT

Seriously, folks, SL is all about change. If anyone wants a little piece of Gold Coast, IM me inworld and I'll drop you the buildings I saved. (The ones I saved anyway, I think the only one I didn't get was the hotel and Hell)

Next week there will be something new and bigger and better than before, and maybe even you will be the one that makes it. :D

On a side note, what are your rates? Could you drop me an email? I would love to hire somebody to create such a beautiful sim like this. jamiebergman2005@hotmail.com

Thanks!
