Something that's getting me a little ticked lately is the intrusion of all these new Militaries popping up in SL recently. I know some of them are here to stop the griefers, but some of them are getting WAY out of hand coming into other peoples sims and using the excuse of tracking down an enemy to let them shoot people... Under no circumstances will i tolerate this behavior in sim i administrate. You want to have war? Take it to a combat sandbox or get your own sim. Leave other people out of it.

I have a lot of evidence stacking up against a unnamed individual who uses alts to grief using a self made military. This person also admins one of the sims i also admin. I am attempting to get him fired by presenting this evidence to the sim owner. So far this owner hasn't done anything about it since the unnamed individual also rents land there. The owner doesn't wish to lose a customer of course. But i feel this sim is in jeopardy to a griefer. Like i said i will not release any names to anyone to protect the inocent.

I have been in SL 2 years and have been a admin most that time. I have lived through times where people abused power right in front of me. Militaries are not the way to go. You wana stop the griefers? Ban them!!! I and a lot of people like me look poorly upon Militaries do to those like i mentioned above. We don't all come to SL to play it like a FPS or PvP game ya know. Role players try not to intrude their role play on others, i think you should do the same. that's just my little rant. I had to say something about it. Good day. :)

SL soldiers are a bunch of wimps. We need more gang members.

I'd classify these folks s "militia" and not Military.. "Vigilantes" might be an even better term.

IMO, anyone on your land w/o permission acting violently is Griefing.

Now - I'm former RL military, I have no issue with Militaristic Groups doing their thing in the areas they've set aside for it. SL is all about free expression.

But when it becomes non-consensual - its griefing and should be treated as such.

Griefers reek!

True. Within the last week i've had like 2-3 encounters with militia group members. The first one didn't shoot. They came in asking if i knew someone (can't give name) and one mentioned one of their groups (which was this soldiers enemy of course). I didn't recognise the group buti knew the person faintly. They cept begging me for permission to shoot them. I told then no. Only if you wish to have a global ban from all the furry sims in this area.

The second time was griefing. A stranger came into my home sim to its little sandbox area and attempted to intarigate a few people. When they told him to STFU he attempted to shoot one. Push restriction was on so it had no effect. I quickly estate banned them and alerted the other estate owners to do the same. Us furries take grief stopping seriusly. :p There was a 3rd militia encounter but they didnt do anything bad and i let them go.

Still say it is griefing if you want nothing to do with their roleplay.

I want no malifa, milita, army, marine or other group interaction.

So if you want nothing to do with them just don't have it......

We know that now, you don't need to keep screaming "NOT IN MY YARD" 300 times at people passing by.

*note to self* do not talk to this woman while I'm playing in my army getup, nevermind that half the time I'm not even carrying a weapon, she doesn't want my "Interaction"

BTW anyone know where I could get a decent military style maroon beret? I've been trying to reconstruct a modern day 82nd Airborne uniform (Was the unit I was attached to) and the last piece escapes me >.<

Oh and a Gili suit.... (I'm a bit of a costume nut ^.^)

I dont mind you wearing your uniform or even wearing a gun. I object to being shot, having my land turned into a war zone, etc.
Sorry I do not know where you can get ACUs. Do you want the full fieldgear to go anong with it? Sounds more like punshment than fun to me. Don't you get enough of this is real life??

I stood a meter or two away as he kept firing, until all of a suddenly his bullets stopped dead at his property line! I laughed at him in return while he swore and cussed about bad animation and faulty guns. I then explained that he had filled up the prim limit on the park and that his guns wouldn't work again over his property line until the owner cleaned up the objects in the park and returned his bullets.

Well if his guns weren't firing temp bullets they WERE defective. It also left his name on some large number of objects to trace back to him later. And he was firing from his own property as well??

Like i stated i am ok with this type of RolePlay existing in SL. I just don't want it interfering with my second life. When a soldier guy comes into the sims i manage, i will ask them to put the weapon away. If they refuse to, i will ban them simple as that. IMO anyone coming into my territory holding a weapon, and refusing to put it away is a griefer. Now if they put it away they can safely travel the sim. They just need to keep their roleplay out of public. If they call me a civilian i'm gona flat out tell them they have no power here so THEY are the civilians. I'm more like the vice president or something. :P

I'm one of the commanders of the Alliance Navy. I can tell you right now that any member accused of griefing is investigated.

As a commander, I am an officer in my respective portion of the Alliance Navy, and I've made it a standing rule since the day I became commander that anyone who griefs will be summarily ejected. The other divisions of the Alliance Navy have similar rules.

Our group is a combination of roleplay and combat. We roleplay the miltaristic roles, such as ranks and divisions. Our divisions have seperate technological trees which give them distinctive uses.

When it comes to combat, 99% of the combat we engage in is grifer groups "look ma, we're an army" that choose to attack us.

For us, we constantly have to fight against the reputation that griefer groups give all military organizations within SL.

And I do more than just this stuff.

I get delusional and try building sometimes, and I script from time to time, and when really bored... I poke buttons repeatedly for hours with no real goal.

Button poking, the great SL pastime :D

Oh, and Grady.. berets just never look good in SL.

I tried to read this entire thread but there were so many "humerous quips" and other such time wasting nonsense that I gave up. All I have to say is that if someone shows up at any of my places wearing a military uniform, with weapons, I don't ask him his intentions. After I freeze him I scold him, boot him and ban him.

Why do so many people think it is so cool to appear at people's private home's looking like a SWAT team member?

I am not at all interested in combat and consider all weapons discharges griefing outside of a combat sim.

I agree with you 100%.

Uh some people just make militaries because Second Life is pretty similar to the real life, in real life you can form a militia or join the military so whats the problem if people want to replicate that in Second Life?

There is nothing at all wrong with people wanting to be militia types in Second Life as long as they don't be crybabies about it when some girl boots them from her land. :)
