Re: Posting Classified Questions in General

Okay point proven that posting questions/comments for the classifieds in General is a lame idea. So, how bout a solution?

I've seen several suggestions so far...

A) Change classifieds to list by post date so that people can still reply.

B) IM or PM creator with questions/comments.

The problem with B is IM and PM caps. Sadly, some of the creators won't recieve their messages because of this. Seems to me that A is an excellent option and hope that the Lindens will consider that as an alternative.

As far as the excessive posting in the General forum to prove a point, its really a childish way to prove a point and I'm very dissapointed. Seems to me like you all can come up with a more mature way to prove your point. Where's the creativity??

Not proving a damned thing, other than that the new method doesn't work. We're doing what they asked us to do. If it seems ludicrous, that's because it is. Blame them, not us.

Kris you know damn well you wouldn't have asked half of these questions under the orginal post if given the opportunity. Your are trying to prove a point and all i'm saying is point proven, now what? I don't agree with their decision but it could be worse. They could just get rid of classifieds altogether because of the overkill of post in General.

What's the point of having Classifieds that are rendered useless and then filling the General forum up with crap? (as per the new rules)

As you'll see from the threads started under this new ruling today, there is useful information and advice in them, including helping creators make their products more user friendly. Here's a good example (chock full of trolls who don't like the new system either, unfortunately) /140/d2/74548/1.html

So you might not like it. But should we just not discuss products any more?

I only know what i've seen in the past year and a half on these forums.

I've read the new rule and like i've stated before I don't agree but seems like there can be an alternative solution instead of making a bad situation worse. Common sense tells me they didn't intend on us stuffing the General forum.

Agreed that Jeska was very vague in her orginal post by just posting a link to ALL DISCUSSION forums as a place to post comments/questions about classified ads, and I DON'T AGREE with LL's decision, I think it was a bad one. However, I feel we should be responsible in our actions as well.

No, I don't think we should stop discussing products.

I'm not sure where to discuss them now, but I don't like it being done in General (thanks Jeska for not being clear!).

Sorry, if you feel i'm telling you off...I'm really just trying to find a better solution (wtf was I thinking, lol).

Kris, you don't annoy me, i find your 99 percent of your post informative, crude, strait forward and amusing. I just felt that the multiple RE: (insert product here) threads were a little excessive.

The original announcement that the classifieds would be post-only said that item discussions should be move to the proper discussion forums. Well since they didn't make a "Classifieds Discussion Forum", GENERAL is all we have.

Thank you! I thought I was going mad, since everyone has been on my case about it since this morning and trolling all the threads about products WAY worse than it ever was in Classifieds. Hence my feature suggestion: Make the General Forum Post Only which follows the logic of this recent repurposing of the General Forum and expands upon it to curb what is evidently going to be a new problem borne of it.

But til then, can everyone stop bleating on about posting in general about products? cuz, like, the Lindens told us to.

Yeah, Nephilaine just posted an ad for models wanted. Can you imagine how inundated she's going to be with IM's, PM's, people seeking her out in world, etc. and ALL OF US WITH THE SAME QUESTIONS? Having to answer those same questions over and over...can she edit her post only once she posts to clarify things? And if she edits, will anyone read the edited post having assumed they already read the original post?
