Heads up for Brits (and anyone else who can get BBC2, I guess!)

Episode 6 of Mark Eastons "Happiness Formula" tomorrow night focuses on whether people can find true happiness on the internet, and features Second Life :)

You're proof that they can't.

So THAT'S why the Beeb opened up a massive island in SL!

Next thing you'll know, there will be David Attenborough hanging around explaining to his viewers about furries...

Jeremy Paxman may interview Philip Linden...

*J Paxman* So Mr Linden, are you going to reduce lag or not?

*P Linden* Well, er, we...

*J Paxman* JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION!
lol

And what if Little Britain came to SL? "Little SL" could feature characters like the Gorean Master who is actually very meek and mild, The guy who thinks he's a full on cop and maybe even the only Furrie in the sim!

The future looks very interesting from where I'm sitting!

The BBC Evening News has gone downhill steadily since the days of Nicholas Witchel and Sue Lawley!

I'm jealous. I'd like to watch this with you guys. And eat crumpets, rice pudding and tea.

Sounds like the angle might be a bit of the 'ol "Second Life - a place for people with no lives to find happiness".

Keep us posted.

Marmite is one of the most vile things on this planet. English Mars Bars, however, are proof the universe wants us to be happy.

lol

I was just reading this thread eating a jaffa cake!!! I feel kind of, errr, predictable now. But what's odd is that I rarely eat the things.

I so agree! :(

It makes you wonder what todays BBC news readers would do if the studio was invaded by lesbian activists live on air.

Just saw the show. Online worlds and virtual friendships occupied maybe the first 10 minutes of the show.

Javier Puff must have had his ears burning because both his SL trailer and one of the Star Wars Galaxies cantina crawl videos he made were heavily featured in that part. :)

Reference to mature SL were, for once, reduced to mentioning "cuddles". :)

An Irish bar was also featured. Didn't catch the name though.

Apart from that, that third of the show was the usual coverage of online friendships which can be a great thing, with the reservation of not really knowing who the person at the other end is.

Hasn't the Beeb been doing a lot of SL stuff lately?

There seem to be a hell of a lot more stories there than on similar American media.

The Beeb seems to love SL. That's why they have rented their island for a year, have presented a Tomorrow's World show (if I remember correctly) from SL, given SLers access to The Big Week end concerts and report on SL every chance they get.

I think LL should consider moving to UK, patching at non UK peak times and basking in the BBC attention. :P

They do in some stores, my friend managed to get some from his local store in the "British Aisle"

I've managed to get two Americans hooked so far! I recently sent my sis a package with lots of goodies and Jaffa Cakes were most definately hit of the day ;)

I found a place about 30 mins away that sells Jacob's Jaffa Cakes. Are those the real deal?
