In our fever to gain P2P, what damage have we brought upon ourselves? Abandoned telehubs abound in 1.8 preview. Without any practical use, poverty and criminal elments have seized upon them.

Just look at the Preview hub in Stillman:

Furthermore, as Second Life goes to the Metaverse, and this becomes an open platform, Linden Lab risks lawsuit in court and [attachment culling] will, I repeat WILL be reverse in court.

I swear I don't know why they haven't banned Ingrid. She is a menace 2 society.

The cracked teleport pad was a nice touch. I rate this 5 stars.

LOLEX! This is actually the kind of thing I'm hoping to see in a more dystopian grid expansion of Second Life. The day telehubs are done for on the Main Grid (and not just the Preview), the telehub itself could be released as a fullperms item to do with as you please. I imagine it'd make a curious home for a new Resi, a flying vehicle, or even some sort of fighting monster robot. :)

Inspiring!

Now I want to get some telehub land, post-1.8, to set up a hobo camp. Plenty of cardboard boxes, a blazing trashcan fire, and a graffiti'd up sign that says "PRIME TELEHUB LAND".

Bonus if it's near some train tracks.

Who's in? We'll need some hobo clothes... and plenty of corncob pipes.

That's my girlfriend. She was standing in the pic so it would have a sense of scale.

And she topped hooking when she was able to afford her telehub land. :(

Broken, with as much free time and talent as you seem to have, you should be able to devise a good plan for hub usage once p2p arrives.

LL should delink them and then set the pieces to physical.

"King of the Sim"

512 for sale or rent,
Land to let...linden bucks,
No scripts, no fly, no sound,
5 meters above the ground,
Ah, but..two hours of cleanin' malls,
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit stall,
I'm a man of means by no means --
King of the sim.

Third boxcar, midnight train
Destination...your sim's name.
Old newbie clothes and shoes,
I don't pay no account dues,
I wear old freebies I have found,
Short, but not too big around,
I'm a man of means by no means --
King of the sim.

I know every owner of every plot,
All of their neighbors, and all that they've bought,
And every freebie in every mall,
And every plot that ain't set --
object no-recall.

I sing,
512 for sale or rent
Land to let, linden bucks,
No scripts, no fly, no sound
5 meters above the ground
Ah, but, two hours of cleanin' malls,
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit stall,
I'm a man of means by no means --
King of the sim.

Are those heroin needles and abandoned crack pipes?

 A stern warning of things to come!

My friends, don't you see?!? This is what the rapid devaluation of telehub land is going to lead to! Why, Broken Templar himself admits that the only reason this poor avvie has returned to her old life as a woman of easy virtue is because she can no longer support herself from the telehub land she owns! Governor Linden doesn't care what your excuse is when you don't have the tier payment ready at the end of the month. Soon, his jackbooted thugs have cast you out on the streets, and the social safety net we knew as rating bonuses is no longer there to catch you when you stumble, thanks to the Governor's heartless budget cuts...

How long are we going to tolerate this lawlessness, and the horrible conditions that lead to it, in our Second Lives? Surely someone other than myself sees this is the direct result of abandoning the innocents on the Teen Grid to the evils of Rock and/or Roll! Why I bet the roving street gang that did this was listening to that grind-core version of Bananaphone while they committed the defacement and property damage shown here!

We've got to take back our communities, or these telehubs will become centers for the worst kinds of exploitation and crime! When are we going to start setting up rehab clinics to try and help these poor unfortunates turn their second lives around? Where is the compassion in the Governor's conservatism?

...

But uhm, when we do finally start setting up methadone clinics for these folks, they won't be in my neighborhood, right?
