A year and a half ago, the last time I read the NPD report, the average ago of an Xbox owner was 28. As I am 40, it would take a lot of teens to drag that number down. If you were a member of Xbox Live you would find a huge number of adults who grew up in the videogame era and are using the system for themselves and their children. In the Halo 2 clan I was a con-founder of we had ages from 12 to 68, and out of over 800 members there were less than 50 below 18.

How many console games have adult content? I mean REAL graphic stuff, not duke nukem dancers. You realize there's a reason for this? And this reason alone is why SL will never be on the 360 or any other console.

Yuck!! Second Life would become "kiddie Land". It would have to be cleaned up for the sake of the children.

Just say NO to children. They have the teen grid, Just say NO to the children!

Second Life sucks already so what would be the difference if it was say:

Hanging in my bathroom on the TP roll,
bought out by Disneyland and becomes a new Theme Park
on an XBOX

I can see Philip now, laying on his pillow, staring up at the ceiling trying to decide. . .
Should I sell or should I go

I don't think there is a sufficiently large market among XBox owners to warrant the costs in money and time and negotiations with the devil (Microsoft), to justify a port.

It would run on a normal Xbox if they didn't enforce 32-bit color. ;)

(I've tried.)

Why SL would not work on Xbox 360:

Specs:
1. SL is not multithreaded, so it can't take advantage of the 360's multi-core CPU
2. Only 10MB frame buffer. Textures would have to be stored in the Main RAM.
3. Only 512M of RAM. SL chokes on only 512M. Most players use 1GB or more, and the 360 will have to use some of this RAM for video memory.
4. Laptop Harddrive. At only 5400 RPM and 2M buffer, it'll chug under SL's demands.
5. A lot of people use the 360's wireless connection. SL doesn't like wireless due to its streaming nature.

Peripherals:
1. Mouse and Keyboard would be mandatory. Most console owners don't want to buy specialized peripherals, and for using on just a single game, a mouse and keyboard would be specialized.
2. Mouse and Keyboard are awkward for most people to use while on a couch.

Resolution:
1. People would need to have a 1080i capable TV. SL's UI is too cluttered at standard TV resolutions.

Mindset:
1. SL has no overall objective or score. People will wonder why they would want to play a non-game on a gaming machine.
2. Graphics are unimpressive to someone expecting the whistles and bells they see in their games. Not to mention the low frame rates.

Though people's mindset can be changed, you can't change the fact that hardware-wise, the 360 isn't up to the task of dealing with something like SL with anything more than mediocre performance. SL360 would largely be a flop, which would make the entire effort to develop a client and integrate the grids with Xbox Live a waste of time and money.

Look monkey.. Um... Monkel... First of all, Second Life would be COMPLETLEY ruined in every possible way if it were put on the XBox360. They would have to sponsor it, and thus would be "Teamed" with XBox360, and Linden Labs+Microsoft=Oh HELL No.
