Texture loading is once again taking over a minute for me.

Times like this just make me want to say, "Screw you guys, I'm going home."

But I endure. Why? Because when SL is working, it's fun. When it's not (which is most of the time really), it's just annoying.

Well, unfortunately (or maybe fortunately!), my cable has been so iffy tonight I haven't even been on.

12 minutes for a 64x64 texture, here.

Ironically, it was a 4-color CGA heart.

The rubberbanding now is so incredibly, exceedingly, extremely bad now. The time to load an objects content, sheesh! Texture loading, well, that has sucked for over a year. Things load so slowly even buying something from a simple box is a pain because it takes so long for the contents to be displayed. The inventory scrolls about like a thing possesed.

I was doing some scripting last night. It seemed to take longer than it should have to save the script after the compile.

I've more or less lost interest in building in Second Life due to all of these issues. Slow asset loading, prims rubber-banding, scripts saving very slowly, etc. It's all very frustrating.

The good news is that I'm refocusing my energy back into my own personal art projects, so I'm getting a lot accomplished there. :)

I am finding its mostly due to time dilation in every sim. I haven't seen any posting on it by Lindens except that joke where it says that everything is fixed, but a sim is *rarely* (unless you are in a griefer.. uh, I mean sandbox area), supposed to deviate from 1.00 or maybe 0.99 time dilation.

There has been regular dilations of 0.23 to 0.50 in almost every sim I have visited and my friends tell me its been happening for over five days now without a single comment from the Lindens. Obviously this is not caused by anything the users or sim occupants are doing, its a system wide screw-up that they are trying to fix quick so they wont have to tell anyone what went wrong.

Ditto. I'm on a job too, and it's killing me. Problem is, only some people are having this problem, and others are fine...

I dunno if this relates to the problems peope have been reporting on this thread, but I had been experiencing extremely low time dialtion and extremely high ping times. After contacting LL help and having them do a traceroute we found one point along the line with a 30% packet loss. I'm in the UK and the transatlantic line was on sprintlink. the point where that fed onto the UK tiscali network was totally borked. Mebbe the lines in and out of SecondLife are in poor shape? Every time I attempt a traceroute to sim400.agni.lindenlab.com it times out even if I have an acceptable connection with a ping between 150 & 250msec.

It's actually a bug with this version *sigh*. Its caused by collision related stuff that the time dilation is going down if you watch the time (ms) at the bottom of the ctrl+shift+1 menu and look at time for physics when the time dilation shoots down it shoots up. Sadly collisions can be avatar's simply bumping into each other but hopefully this'll be fixed in the next update coming up we can only hope =/.

Interesting. I get a ping of 250 each way at the moment, and just ran a traceroute. These are my results:

I'm guessing... With all the users SL has now, the asset server was going nuts the other week... It could be a long term issue. More users = more stuff being made = Bigger Database to manage = slower to load.
