Oh now, that's interesting. The way I've heard tell, it's only the newer players who don't understand things, and do all the whining and moaning and threatening to quit, and without whom SL would be much better off, since it would be like the good old days when all the high quality people were here.

No, everyone's been whining, moaning, threatening and misunderstanding since the dawn of time. The SL lifers/beta folks are no better than any other humans.

Gosh. Reading this thread. Makes me forget how it used to be.

You kids have to realize that at one point they charged you L$ everytime you rez'd a prim.

I like seeing threads like that, makes me feel all young again. Almost 1 year old only.

I have no idea what those old timers are babbling about. I have no complaint about not having to walk 5 miles in the snow to school.

HAH if those posts become replyable again that would be the largest piece of thread necromancy i've ever seen!!! XD

Now THAT - that is the one thing that terrifies me most. It is the only thing that I always say I would quit over, if they ever did that again!

Reassure me again that they won't; I'm getting all cold and clammy again thinking of it.

I remember not being able to attach a prim bracelet because i didnt have the linden in my account to pay to wear it!

They're talking about the change to v1.2, which was the first version that introduced land ownership and tier fees.

Before that, as I understand it, you could build anywhere but you had to pay L$ per prim (and I think you had to pay at regular intervals for leaving prims around too). That's why the L$ had so many harsh economic transitions - it was originally a way of distributing server load (you get L$ equal to your "fair share" every week, you can use it to put things on the servers, or give some to someone else who's made something you like, etc).

I think it's safe. There'd be a mass exodus.
