Since reading the announcement about the death of the forums in a month I haven't seen one Linden post. So let chaos rein (I guess) for the last few weeks. I wish I heard from Torley, Jeska or Philip but it isn't happening here.
Giving Ulrika resmod powers was a nice twist though.

Kelly Linden answered two posts in the Answers forum today.
Sally, Jill, and Andrew Linden each answered one question in Answers yesterday.
Torley Linden answered 23 questions in Answers yesterday.
There are five forum related disciplinary actions in the police blotter dated yesterday.
For new Linden input, check the Linden blog page.
It's the weekend, they might be having a bit of personal life for a while.

With all due respect Robin, your company's actions don't really suggest this is the case.

You believe this because Ulrika said it? You may want to use your brain on this one.

From: Inigo Chamerberlin With all due respect Robin, your company's actions don't really suggest this is the case. I guess I missed where it says the sandbox (what an appropos name), general and land and economy forums are for complaining to the Lindens about what you don't like. o You can email them, even Robin and Philip! What other developer allows that? o You can call them on the phone. o You can IM them in world. o You can email support. o There are a plethora of avenues to contact them. That's ok though... just keep pretending that your shitty behaviors are a protest about losing some valuable channel of communication with the Lindens instead of coming to grips with that fact that for many of you the forums are an addiction and a place to rant and try to impress others with your inexhaustible 'wit' and sarcasm. Especially the contingent that likes to impress their friends by being 'edgy' and spouting off a bunch of ad hominem pseudointellectual crap. I have been reading these forums for two months now and have come to realize that they are a hotbed for egomaniacs and whiners. I am thinking we have a group of privileged RL people who are used to being coddled and carry that overblown sense of entitlement with them everywhere they go. Now jump all over me and tell me that I have no right to an opinion because I have only been here two months. I would expect nothing less from the pack of hyenas that think they run this place.

That about sums it up. However, the content creation forums are an invaluable resource. The important stuff is staying. The rest of the shit is getting tossed. I say it's a brilliant move on the part of LL and I look forward to seeing what kind of exciting communications tools they and users build in place of the lost forums.

I think that forum should be kept, as well as Answers and the other true communication, commerce and learning forums. Is it a shame that some valuable sharing of ideas will be lost because of of this? Certainly. Such is the way of things when a loudmouthed minority endlessly talks smack about each other and the dev team for petty personal 'gain', ego building and stroking. I am going to say one last thing. When they announced that the forums would be trimmed, many people came out with this 'fuck you' stuff, and other equally adolescent rubbish. I'd point out that many times, people's true character shines through when they know they have nothing to lose. Some of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

Let me say this, yes there’s been a huge amount of bitching lately, but never have i EVER experienced the level of passion that the SL customer has, they truly love the game, or they would just slide off elsewhere, never to be heard again. LL should be ashamed of their attitude towards them.
I know LL and SL are having growing pains right now, i've been in corporate long enough to see all the signs..everyone is torn as to what direction to move towards next, each department screams for their own agenda. True leadership is a must during these times, exact goals must be set, performance slides cannot be tolerated, just because there are chaotic times rolling through the corporation.
The most important thing in my humble opinion, is that your customers not suffer, be slighted in any way. They are your bread and butter, they make the rent and payroll, and you cannot afford to piss them off right now. Yes change will happen, it will be good some days and bad on others, but the head of the corporation must take leadership and responsibility for all of its actions to remain positive and successful.

Hi Robin, thanks for posting! Suezanne thanks for the links. Champie I know maybe Ulrika is just saying she got resmod but I'd rather believe a Linden with a twisted sense of humor gave her that with the end of the forums. Seems plausible too - several other people said they got the same letter.

Ulrika IS a resmod. Anyways, Distilling achievables2 cups chopped seeded watermelons 1 cup crushed ice 2 teaspoons honey 1/4 teaspoon black pepper fresh mint (optional garnish) 1. Combine watermelon, ice, honey, and black pepper in a blender. 2. Blend until smooth. 3. Garnish with mint. 4. Serve chilled. 5. Stir well before serving.

Monitoring to keep the lid on until 'the day' maybe. Interested in customer opinions/comments though? I doubt it, expcept where it happens to dovetail with company policy.

She cannot be placed on Ignore because she is a moderator of her own group forum, not because she is a RESMOD. I know this because I tried to put her on my ignore list about 2 weeks ago and got the same message. I then contacted the forum administrator and received a response that validated what I stated above. Nice try, but you too must use your brain more often. <----

Hmmm, ever worked on a company that ran along these lines? Thought not. I think you'll agree this is a more likely explanation for the 'chaotic times' than any other? The wonder of it is that LL continues to run as well as it does. From: cinda Hoodoo The most important thing in my humble opinion, is that your customers not suffer, be slighted in any way. Fine sentiments! However, is it likely in a company where the leader has dismissed any idea of a meaningful corporate structure?
